Greetings: I am new to the site. I have owned a 1970 Triumph Daytona T-100 S for over 30 years and have just become interested in restoring this very nice bike. I can't seem to find any information on the T-100 S, just the R and C versions. My bike has the single carb and, I believe, the larger 8" front brake. Can anyone advise if this is a rare version of the Daytona? Domestic of Euro? Thanks so much. Scott
Hi Scott and welcome to the forum, the T100 S is a UK model, machines went by a number of different names, the T100S/S or T100S in the UK and the T100S/R or T100R (Sports/Road) in the US. The sporting single carb 500cc model was known as the T100SS, the head is the same for both single and twin carb models, it is the manifold that is different for the single and twin carb models, the single front brake was replaced with the larger Bonneville twin leading shoe front assembly, these machines are fairly plentiful and there are lots of them around, you could get a race kit for these bikes at the time, although to find one kitted out now is very very rare, they did reach speeds of 150 mph in race trim, although the modifications were extensive, the cams used on the T100 S are of the E313 type, so a little hotter than say the R model.
If you are interested I can post some details regarding the Daytona 200 and the T100, although it may test my grey cells somewhat.
please do, if you can find it. i know that the 500 cc machines were spectacular. my only comparison is with triumph factory 650s in 1969, where i believe they topped out at 132 or so at the isle of man. by all accounts the 500s were more interesting as racing machines
Hi Speedrattle, will do and most of it will be from memory, some really brilliant people worked in the Triumph Experimental Development Department, I see many machines advertised as "Rob North" Race Tridents, this is very misleading, yes there are some genuine Rob North framed machines about, but very rare a genuine Rob North framed machine comes on the market, I will put a small piece in about these as well. Ride safe all from an ageing Rocker.
@Scott Tinley Could be not sure or someone could have done some mods. Most parts for the 500's are similar and will fit. Do hit the upload a file button and give us some photo's
