    Hi, all.
After a failed (new) stator finally got swapped out, and the rectifier was replaced too, the bike has a working charging system. Took it in for MOT on Friday and the tester had to help me bump start it as the starter decided to say 'feck off'! New starter has arrived and was wondering if anyone can confirm it's only the tank that needs removing to access the fixings for the motor?
    Ta,
    Dave.

Are you sure it's the starter motor and not the starter relay that's at fault?

My 675r 2009 had a starting issue back in 2017 when it belonged to my mate. We changed the relay prior to setting off but to be on the safe side, we took a new spare battery with us to the Manxgp ( bikes in a van).
    The relay was the culprit!

    HI, Eldon,

Thanks for the suggestion. That was changed at some point last year, when I started having loads of trouble with starting/running issues. Doesn't mean it couldn't have gone again but it definitely wasn't as I've just swapped out the starter and it fired up on the button.

As an update for this enquiry, if anyone has to tackle this in the future, the whole bally lot has to come off - tank, airbox and throttle bodies. The hardest part? Number one cylinder throttle body to inlet manifold rubber boot clamp!
