Day 1: Today we headed with our packed bikes 3 hours to the province called Upper Austria. Our first stop was at the Hallstätter See which is sourounded by some parts of the pre Alps. We took our bathing clothes and had a very refreshing swim in the lake. The temperature was 21 degrees celsius. Brrrr. A bit freezy.:cold_sweat: We were accompanied by hundreds of little fish and some ducks. After this cool down phase we warmed ourselves with a cup of coffee and a delicious apricot cake.
Then we rode a few minutes to our accommodation in Bad Ischl. Here we will stay until Sunday. In the afternoon we made a culinary walk through the town and had some delicious refreshments.
Tomorrow we will test our alpine qualifications.;)
    In the following some impressions.

Wot ...... no litter; no graffiti; no urban street "art"? What kind of place are you living in anyway?

Hope the ironic 'humour' isn't entirely lost on you. ;);)

    Great pictures, BTW.:)

@Markus Meant everything. I was in awe of the beauty and peacefulness that seemed present. And like someone said so clean and tidy.

    Day 2:
After our delicious breakfast we started our alpine hiking tour to the top of the mountain called "Katrin". We had planned about 2,5 - 3 hours to get up there. We made it. Through a great landscape and over steep rocky hiking paths through a wonderful wood we reached in 2,5 hours the top of the "Katrin". We met some hikers from all over the world on our way up the mountain. But as you can imagine there is a much easier way to get up the mountain - a historic looking cable car with small little cabins. Nearly 95% of the people take this option.:p Near the top there is a nice old inn situated. We had some refreshing drinks there. After half an hour we took the cable car back down to Bad Ischl. The up and downhill ride is €27.- and the downhill only ride costs €20.-. Not really cheap, but much less strenuous.;)
In sum we did a distance of 10 km with a height difference of nearly 1.000 m uphill.;)
After refreshing ourselves in our accommodation we went to the center of the town again and joined an international food festival in a big park of Bad Ischl. Many interesting food options were available and we tested some of them. - Delicious!
After this culinary highlight we "rolled" back to our accommodation and enjoyed the rest of the day there.
Tomorrow morning we will load our bikes again and head back home with them.

My equipment for the hiking tour.

    Day 3:
After our breakfast we loaded our bikes and started our tour back home at a temperature of 19 degree celsius. Due to the today's Sunday we had less traffic on the streets and were able to ride in a constant attractive tempo. ;)
We passed some interesting mountainous roads and had really fun while riding. Down from the last mountain, the Semmering, we had an extreme experience. The temperatures went up in a few minutes to 34 degrees celsius. In our home area we have actually extreme temperatures..
After three hours and another about 300 kilometres we arrived back home.
We had a great weekend again in the area of Bad Ischl.
Next week some business duties and on Saturday we start our main bike event for this year.
    More information coming soon. ;)

Thanks for the write up of your trip. I’ve never visited Austria but you are making me want to. It just looks so clean and well looked after.

For anyone going by Bad Ischl, one of the best cake shops in Austria is Cafe Zauner (I think this is where Markus ate?). Well worth a visit and the Iced Coffee is good as well.
A trip to nearby Salzburg should keep any SO's happy as well.

The nearby Grizzly Motorbike Hotel is a good base for a motorbike trip e.g Grossglockner is not too far away.
