    Hello all!

I'm Aaron. In Feb 2024, I bought this 2003 Bonneville that hasn't run since late 2019 or early 2020. I just started working on getting it running in July. The oil is drained and I currently have the carbs off and disassembled. I'm waiting for a few parts to come in to put them back together. The tank was in decent shape, I gave it a rinse then a soap bath. It's currently filled with white vinegar, and after I rinse it tonight, I will give it a quick rinse with muriatic acid to prevent flash rust since it will probable be a week or more before I can try to start it.

With the spark plugs taken out (and reconnected to the ignition coils) I hooked the battery up to my car, and tried the starter. I have small sparks on both plugs, so that 's good news. I'm wanting to get the bike running and make sure it can run before I spend tons of money on the other items that need to be addressed.

I'm thinking, once I have the carbs reinstalled, I can install the fuel tank, replace the air filter, fill it with oil, then try to jump it. Does anyone thing I need to give the airbox an overhaul before I do that, or should a new filter and wipe down with rags be enough?

Hi and welcome to the forum . IMHO I would say you’ll be okay just getting rid of any debris in the airbox, giving it a wipe over with an oily rag as you say and using a new filter to give you proof of life as it were.

Good onya, mate, I've had an '07 for about 10 years, along with a few others with lots more go ,(and stop) .. but there's something about these that's undefinably enjoyable ?

For sure. Love the Bonnie style. Your '07 is still carbureted right?
