New to forum! I got a slightly used (3200 miles) Scrambler 1200XE back in March. Friend of mine found it and I drove a couple of hours to pick it up on a very rainy day. It's a little tall but I installed the lowering springs, changed the oil, replaced the brake fluid, and bought and installed the dealer tool program. I have a center stand ordered. Main gripe is the high front fender the previous owner installed. My previous Triumph was several years back, a black 1997 Speed Triple (should have kept!). I also have a 2001 Vmax. I'll be checking in regularly about mods done and ideas you guys have on things. Hoping I don't have to ask about big problems! I don't plan to have any. I live in Tennessee, about 1/2 between Nashville and Chattanooga.

Hey Floyd, welcome aboard. Is your front fender issue that it does a bad job on keeping the wheel water off of you and the front of the bike? First time I was caught in the rain with that setup, I noticed the tire was finging water directly into the headlight, dash,and just above that, on to me. I'm glad I live in the desert, so it won't be an issue often. Are you happy with the Dealer Tool? I have owned my XE since last November, and still haven't purchased the tool, opting in stead to live with the service light perpetually on. S.C.
Sorry so long to answer. Anyway...I've never had this bike in the rain! It's mostly just the looks. I think it make it look like a big, really nice dirt bike. The low fender looks like it's on a big really nice bike that 'could' go off road.I just think it looks better. I guess I'll wait until I can get to a dealer and inspect what all I need to get a low original equipment fender. Dirt bikes I have had in the past did fling water onto the headlight too. When I get caught in the rain I'm sure I'll have the same problem. As far as Dealer Tool; yes I like it very much. Had to get the son to install and help with problem of loading it as I had put in on twice and confused it. Dealer Tool was quick and precise for addressing what to do. It was a laptop used by grand kids that we wiped clean except for the Dealer Tool. Easy to wipe out that service light, and get the fluid out of the brakes by pulsing the anti lock.
Thanks Bikerman, you gave me a good reason to read about Lincolnshire and see pictures..very nice. Wife and I went to England once and really enjoyed the trip and the people were nice to us.
