Hi Guys, Greetings from Buckingham UK. trading in my 1985 BMW R80RT for a 2013 Bonneville 865 in about a week or so. Bought over the phone so haven't ridden it yet! Paying the difference b credit card, so if it does go tits up, I have some protection! Never owned a Triumph before, but reading the reports (not that many on the tinterweb) it sounds great for the following reasons - low seat height as I am 5' 8" and want to be able to paddle backwards when seated. - Enough power for tootling round and the occasional longer scoot down to see my Grandson in Essex. - not too heavy ( e.g. Harley D kinda weight) - Nice Looking in a traditional bike way, with a riding position suitable for someone approaching 70. Questions for the group chat: anyone done any continental touring on one yet? What should I be careful of going forward e.g. polished alloy needing attention....does WD40 keep it in good condition over winter in the garage? Any electrical gremlins need to be headed off before they become an on the road issue.....?? Anyway....looking forward to benefitting from the collective knowledge this owners group possess. Regards Les Lindsay Buckingham
Hi there! Welcome to the forum! I did.on my gone T120 as a second bike 14.000 km in nearly one year. I liked the behaviour and comfort on it. You will get nearly the same impressions on your T100. There are some T100 Riders on the forum who do long tourings without any issues with it. Just enjoy the bike!
Hi Les, l own a Bonneville SE. Rode it from Calais almost to Valencia using largely French D roads. Post covid a lot of provincial filling stations are gone so l bought two 1.5 litre petrol bottles. Used them once. Replaced the stock seat because it's shite. Only leccy problem was an erratic indicator fault which turned out to be a relay-cheap and easy fix. Surprisingly nice tourer if you aren't in a hurry or need tons of luggage....
Welcome Les, I use ACF50 to treat my bikes overwinter, it creeps into all the nooks and crannies and is a better corrosion inhibitor than WD40. Electrical problems are pretty rare, keep the battery charged when not in use and you will be fine. Best Tim
Welcome to the family. The acf50 is great stuff. Rode my 660 all winter and probably treated twice and wheels still perfect. Joe
Got to agree with @joe mc donald. I use acf50 on both my bikes and the winter protection is excellent
