Last rode bike in early 1980s. Just taken the plunge and have a shiny 2018 t100 waiting to be ridden. Before then am getting some training and am booked on a police bikesafe course later this year. So much will have changed since my last bikes (honda 400/4 and bsa lightning). Will be taking it easy.
Hi and welcome to the forum . I went on the Bikesafe at Chorley last June and can’t recommend it highly enough.
Greetings from New Jersey! I'm not sure where you are in the UK, but, when I lived near Hull, some of my favorite places were the Lake District, Cornwall and anywhere in Wales and Scotland! Yorkshire was also charming. Where will you ride?
Hi Baz, great to hear you are back on two wheels , I hope you have a shed load of fun on the new steed.
Thanks for all your good wishes. First ride today, beautiful weather and got back with no in incidents. Got lots of relearning to do bur great to be back...
OMG! I have a bicycle that looks more stoutly built than that!! Ha, ha. Was that for a road race? I can't believe that those drum brakes were good at stopping from any speed! Great photo!
Thanks Mick Reved to 11000, can't recall lap times but was competitively fast. Also used to race a honda in 500cc production. The thing about the bantam was with the limited power to basically not use brakes.
I also had a sizeable break in my riding career. The main piece of advice I can give is observation, observation because they won’t see you, plus lane discipline. Make sure your riding kit is fit for purpose.
Thank you. Good advice. I've got a good set of gear after much chatting to biker mates. Sure I will get more as I progress. There's a local rospa group which I intend to go to as well. So much choice of gear compared to 1970s...
