Not sure if these two things are connected or not, but my bike suddenly didn't have enough power to start, I may have left the parking light on, charged the battery back from 12.4 to 12.8, and put the battery in and she started immediately. The battery was over 3 years old and had been run down a couple of times over that period so I ordered another one.

Meanwhile a couple of days later the bike's alarm light is on which I've never seen, all other electrics seem fine and of course the starter is completely dead.

The cabling is very tight around the battery, I have since put the new battery in and it is the same.

I have the Dealer Tool but I think I need to start to the bike to use that. I checked the code which only showed 0000.

HI, fortunately you don't need to start the engine to check for fault codes on the Dealer Tool, as long as there is power to the dash as the DT will also scan the dash and show everything it tests, using your laptop you can go through the menu and test everything, some machines have suffered from faulty immobilisers so it may well be yours is playing up, the DT will show this up, if it does turn out to be that it is an easy fix, when connecting the DT to the ECU once it has read and verified it, you will soon see if anything is amiss, you only need to run the machine up for some tests/adjustments, eg throttle body balancing, fan, fuel pump, relays etc etc. Hope this helps.

Did you charge the new battery before you installed it ?

I'm only now able to get around to this. I will fire up dealer tool and see what I can find then.

@Carl556 yep put the new battery in and charged up first, and I also just tried the spare key.

EDIT: I have fired up DT but it showed no errors. Went through all the pages and didn't see anything that pointed to any problems. Not sure where a faulty immobiliser would show up in DT.
