Well after 9 years on the Speedmaster i've decided to up my game and have just bought a 2020 Tiger Rally Pro from my local dealer (Pictures to follow) I'm now in the market for a new helmet. Pannier Racks are fitted but no Panniers. Any suggestions, tips most welcome.
I have the Triumph expedition panniers and top box. Granted I’m not the most traveled among us but they have been around Scotland twice, French Alps, Provence, Norway and numerous day rides around the Yorkshire Dales. They have not let water in once, they’re very easy to fit and remove, they’re accessible whilst parked on ferries as they’re top opening but I do sometimes kick them when getting on/off. To stop me marking them I have stuck on some protective rubber tops. Helmet wise I have a NEXX X WED II. I’ve had this helmet for around three years now and so far I would buy it again. It’s light for an adventure helmet, has a very large aperture, has a drop down sun visor and it’s very easy to take apart to clean it. My bike is a 2022 Rally Pro 900.
Cheers Glenn, been riding cruisers for years with the helmets jackets etc. to go with them. Buying an adventure bike is like statrting from scratch
Update on the new helmet. I've whittled my list of nine down to the last two. Nexx vilijod and scorpion adx. Has anybody heard of,or had a Segura jacket. Just like the look of them, something different.
Just had a look as I don’t know what a modular helmet is. Turns out it’s just a flip front with a more dramatic name??? My NEXX has been a good helmet so if it’s made to a similar standard it should be fine.
You can get the original look of the Triumph expedition panniers on the aftermarket. They are identical. Only the Triumph logo is missing and the price is much lower.
Well the scorpion adx won in the end. Nexx doesn't do a M so that put the dampers on that. I also picked up a Held Tardo Top jacket, nice and plain, can't stand jackets with too much bling. No photo's can't upload pictures. don't know why, it worked before. To be continued...........
Well got the bike home (Transit van) have not registered it yet, too much snow ice etc. Have been trying to get to grips with the onboard computer. I will probably never use most of the bells and whistles. I was stiffed by the (young) sales person. I was promised new MOT (2 years) which is the norm here in Germany. All i got was the MOT which was on it, a year and a couple of months. He couldn't remember us talking about it when i signed the contract. There were another couple of niggly things so be warned don't come over here and buy a bike in Bielefeld. ;-) Wan't to go with soft panniers and as you can see iv'e got the original Triumph racks.
