    Hello all,

2013 Thruxton 900 here with about 11500 miles on the clock. I apologize up front if this is a dead horse type issue. I'm hearing a rhythmic rattle that occurs when I'm rolling in neutral or with the clutch engaged. It sounds like it is coming from the engine case. This presented first as a scrubbing, so I made sure the chain was well lubed. It seemed like the noise went away but after today's ride, it has reappeared as more of a clicking sound (metal on metal) The nature of the noise makes me think first that it's the chain needing service/adjustment, but I'm new to triumphs so I thought I would check in here first to see what the OGs say. If there is a thread that will sort it for me I'm happy to go read it if directed there.

    Thanks much for your help!

    Mitch

Do you have the standard caliper and disc on the front?

Yes, I Believe that brakes both front and rear are standard. Guy I purchased the bike from in June did a few upgrades but don't think brakes were one of them. I checked both front and rear and didn't see anything obvious or loose.

    Thanks much for the reply!

Have you tried taking the front sprocket cover off and clearing crud from around there, it gets filthy, also check the sprocket is tight and not worn, chain could be slipping

Thanks again for your insight. I'm reading on here that the clicking I'm hearing might be from the floating brake disc, and that a thorough washing might sort it. Is that consistent with what you were thinking?

    Thanks again!

I'm not sure the standard brake is floating but someone has changed to any aftermarket one then it will rattle. I had a Beringer conversion on mine and it rattled like mad, quite liked it though.
