  1. Fork Lock

Fork Lock Crème de la Crème

Everyone in South Jersey and Southeast Pennsylvania (Philadelphia and environs) has their favorite shore town. Ours is Sea Isle City. It is situated south of Atlantic City, NJ, off Rt. 9 (the road which runs the length of the NJ shoreline immortalized by Bruce Springstein in his iconic song "Born To Run" - "Sprung from cages on Highway 9..."). It's about 50 miles southeast of El Rancho Fork Lock. My eldest daughter's band plays there often through the summer at the Ocean Drive bar, and she has a regular solo gig there through the summer on Monday nights. It's a nice little town with a great beach, a boardwalk with shops and lots of really nice eateries. The summer season is done, but I took a ride down today. About a 100-mile round trip. 65 degrees and brilliant sunshine. Awesome!

Some great colourful pictures there. Autumn isn't always depressing when you see the colours of the trees. Thanks for posting these. Nice one Fork Lock.:):)

I'll have to check out what they've been up to in Thirsk.

Look what they managed in Hawes recently

Taking advantage of the Autumn sunshine

3 miles from home. The road is part of one of Simon Weir's bikers Britain loops. It's quite popular with bikers and is pretty busy in general for a B road.

Only a couple of miles from the white horse. Dates from 1361 but I cant get over such a magnificent church in a tiny village.

Anyone want to buy a wonky house. TBF the photo doesn't do the wonkiness any justice. The village has quite a few similar buildings.

Another random walk out. Bought a new mobile the other day, and just trying out the camera phone. Like the results so far.

OK, so what's with the Church then. Well I'm not religious, but I just liked the sun on the stonework, and the blue sky ( A rarity we know )

  14. Fork Lock

Fork Lock Crème de la Crème

Gorgeous day here in Sunny South Jersey. Brilliant sunshine and temps in the 50s. Great riding - no bugs. Headed down about 30 miles southeast to Weymouth Forge. It's in the Atlantic County Park system. It's on the Great Egg Harbor River and features an old iron producing furnace/forge. It was built in 1801 and they smelted locally sourced bog iron, mostly for home goods (pots and pans, etc.) but they made ammunition and bombs for the war of 1812. It was converted to a paper mill in the 1860a and ceased production in 1899. It then fell into ruins. I've fished the river there, and kayaked, but there's no swimming allowed. The river is really fast moving there.

With my brother on a fabulous trip to Northern Ireland earlier this year. Generous & hospitable people, great roads, fantastic scenery, I highly recommend a visit.
