    Hey all,

Currently own a Sprint ST 2008 (for past 12 years!).

Tried most bikes out there but always decide to keep the sprint.

Wondered what the thoughts are on the Speed 1050?
Best year to get, things to look out for etc.

Anyway, hi and look forward to speaking to you all.

    Cheers.

I had a 2010 Sprint and a 2010 Speedy. I too never found a better sports tourer than my Sprint, not when l looked at the cost to change. Both superb bikes, Speedy was comfy enough to get me to Germany ok. They are great bikes, and seemingly just got better year on year. I'm pretty sure you'd be happy with any Speedy, personally. :)

Greetings, @Vespy, and welcome to the forum. I currently own a 2019 Speed Triple RS which I'll have had five years at the end of this coming November. I love the bike. The only issue I had early on was a bit of inconsistency with my quick shifter. But that became covered by warranty and I got a new shifter arm and no problems after that. It's great fun to ride and I absolutely love the engine.

Hi and welcome. Have to agree with you on the merits of the 1050 sprint ST, a great bike. I also had the tiger 1050 another great variant using the 1050 engine.

Welcome to the family. Yes nice bike the Sprint. I prefer the earlier 995I myself. But they are both great machines. Do drop a picture when you get one. Joe

I currently have the 2011 Sprint GT 1050 and the 2013 Trophy SE, the latter was supposed to be the next gen sports tourer. I have to say that they are very different bikes, and a lot depends on your objective. The Sprint is definitely more sporty, and the engine is a joy. It is about 6" longer than the ST, which improves the "touring" objective, but probably slows it down a bit in aggressive corners. The Trophy has 10% more torque (only 2 hp more) for its 1200cc, but the additional 70 lbs shows. The engine needs to wind up more before it starts to jump. That said, the Trophy is much more comfortable for the long rides. A more upright riding position, and class-leading wind protection (the electrically adjustable windshield is great). It still handles the corners great, and a top case with a pad makes a comfortable place for my passenger. The electrically adjustable suspension preload keeps the ride either softer or stiffer, depending on your mood.

So, what do you want from your bike?
