Showroom Experience In Bangalore

I am not sure if anyone else also found a similar experience. But i am sharing mine.

I have had booked a Speed 400 online and wanted to test ride. I was thinking of an upgrade to may be Tiger 800/900 if not satisfied with Speed 400.
So visited Keerthi showroom in Bangalore along with my kiddo. I have been a bike rider for several decades now.

There was no one to even care about who walked into the showroom. After a long wait one lady walked in Then they asked my DL and said i have to wait for test ride, After a long another wait, They said that i have to have a riding gear . I took a jacket from i kid, (which does not serve any purpose what so ever) but they were satisfied with me wearing a jacket. Then they said i need a riding shoe and a normal shoe wont suffice.

Looking at all of these, Does it mean that the bike is unsafe to ride due to which i have to always wear riding gear even for a 5 min test ride in Bangalore traffic where the speed cannot cross 20-30km/hr ?

I can understand a long hour , Highway rides where a riding gear is mandatory. I am not sure how can one who walk into a showroom in a car would get all riding gear's ready for a test ride. I am not sure if this is only with me or some one else has also encountered the same

 

License and indemnity are a must here as well, But the riding gear of jacket and other gear are going overboard i feel

Here are a few things that really made me go nuts... The showroom if its mandating the Gear and if its really concerned about the rider, Then it should be really strict on the riders Jacket / Riding shoe / helmet etc. It cannot be that any riding jacket is fine ( even a rain jacket ) was Ok. Similarly for a riding shoe, they were fine with snickers but not Ok with crocs.

I have had been a rider myself for the past 20-25 years and have been riding RE's Interceptor's and Super Meteor's and a Triumph Speedmaster, And recently wanted one more for kiddo infact i have booked one as well. But the real bad experience in showroom is now really making me think otherwise and look at other options such as Suzuki or Ducati's.
I did not experience these in the past when i picked up mine earlier. If this is the case at the time of test ride, i am wondering what would be the fate when one owns up a bike.

And unfortunately i still have not got a call from Triumph for a test ride despite walking into the showroom and booking one asking for one etc. I wish they some day would call me. But chat messages say that i can contact the showroom to get my new bike as my waiting period is over.
