    Hi All, new member Rog here, Ive got a Tiger 800 abs, first generation and I still love it after nearly five years ownership, mainly for the awesome engine.

    Just found the centrestand bolt has worked itslelf halfway out on the left side of the bike (where the side stand is attached) and the 'top hat' washer on the inside has dropped off (without its locating pin!).

    The bolt is waisted/thread flattened and it was reluctant to come out, so its obviously been working itself loose for a while. Im a bit worried about whether the thread is damaged in the frame where the replacement pivot bolt needs to go through. Anyone had similar problem? Any tips or ideas?!

    I have borrowed a paddock stand and planning to have a go at feeding the new bolt in and locating the retaining top hat washer...its very hard to see what is going on under there and I need to make sure the old locating pin hole is clear.

    Hi and welcome - just be careful when it’s up on the paddock stand as they aren’t the most stable of beasts especially as you’ll be lay down working under it.
    If you can get an Abba Stand (I have one for my fireblade and assume you can get adaptors for a Tiger 800) they are very easy to use and rock solid.
    See you’re in Leeds and there’s a second hand one on shpock up in Billingham.

    Hi @RogerDodger and welcome.
    I live a few miles from Squires so we aren't far apart.
    Buy a new bolt and pm me?
    I have a fairly comprehensive workshop so we can retap the thread ( helicoil if need be) to ensure its true and fit back together :blush:

    Well done, @Eldon that's a great offer of assistance to a fellow member and a new one to boot, i think in my opinion worthy of a mention, that's the kind of comaradary we like to see on the forum and go's above and beyond.
    Well done Sir :cool::cool:

    Great to get your input, you do feel uncomfortable lying down under the bike if it is not very secure. I may get bobbins for the swingarm to ensure it is more solid, the padfock stand I have borrowed can use bobbins or hasflats to go under the swingarm.

    That is a superb offer, many thanks. Just changed it, not sure why my location came up as Leeds, its actually Birmingham, so not quite so local!. I have got the new bolt, think it is a two person job to make sure the bike is steady while working on it so think Id better enlist a friend.

    Update...on the sidestand side of the bike, the main centrestand bolt and tophat spacer/retaining bolt that it pivots on were both damaged. The tophat bolt has a little retaining pin that locates in a hole in the frame to stop it turning. Mine had separated and the tophat had been rotating.

    I managed to borrow a paddock stand and with help , to get the bike on that so we could have a proper look for the first time.

    Turns out by this stage everything was a bit loose including the centrestand pivot bolt of the other side of the bike and the side stand fixing bolt...so a very wobbly loose situation! We put some threadlock on everything on reassembly and the new Triumph bolt and tophat thing went in ok, thank goodness.

    Much better now and the sidestand has an audible and solid sound when it swings into position instead of the baggy feel it had before. So good to be able to rely on the stands with confidence again. Thanks for offers of help and feedback on here.

    May be worth other owners checking to make sure your stand fixings haven't started to loosen themselves. ..
