    Hi.

I have a '97 Sprint Sport 900, it won't win any concourse competitions but pulls like a train and always makes me smile......except for today that is.

I'm removing the tank to get to the throttle cable at the carb end, ive done previously with no issues, just can't remember the process.

No matter where the fuel tap is positioned it will not stop hemorrhaging fuel when the fuel pipe/s are removed from the back of the tap.

The knob is the metal upgrade one, do I have to remove the vaccum hose first?

Or do I need to replace the tap?

    TIA.
    Jon

Hi and welcome, the sprint sport 900 has 3 settings on the fuel tap, on, reserve and prime. On and reserve need a vacuum for the fuel to flow, prime is the only one that should let fuel flow without a vacuum. Sounds like either the knob is not turning the tap away from prime, or the tap has a problem. Hope it's a easy fix.
I have fond memories of my sprint sport 900, a real sleeper in the T300 range in my opinion.

    Thank you....
I took another look at it today, and have decided it's the tap that needs replacing.

It doesn't matter what position the knob is, fuel still flows out!

So I'm going to drain the tank, sort out the throttle cable at the carbs, then order either a new tap or the repair kit...

    Thanks again!

Good people to deal with and very knowledgeable about the T300 range.

I have had some experience with those vacuum fuel taps. Mine went bad [95 Sprint]. They made a rebuilt kit for them, but I found that a waste of money. It STILL leaked. I recommend you find the complete assembly and replace it as a whole. A bit expensive, but that was the only workable solution have found. I hope you can still get them.
