Wow, what a moving story. The accident makes me shutter a bit as I am about to return to biking after over 40 years but a great story indeed. The fact that you both put all that hardship aside and reunited is kismet. It's wonderful that you two have found each other again. Give that gal a big hug every day of your life my friend. Take care.

Great story, but more importantly did you manage you manage to fix the bike?

I'm kinda new here, so Im catching up on a lot of the threads and just got to this one.
Amazing story. Good on the both of you. As my mother used to say "It was meant to be."

Best of luck to you both.

As for Mr. Baker, if you are the forgiving type, bless you. The Joisey (Jersey) way?
He'd have gotten a visit from a couple of my cousins. Fuggedaboudit.

I'll never forgive him , The pain and upset he caused with no remorse Says so much about his
Character. My mum was going to pay someone to sort him out but my grandfather talked her out of it. I would love to meet him just to see if he had anything to say

Well now, I only had one brain cell left and you've made it go all mushy. I shall console myself with a sandwich, or three,

Best of luck to both of you and I wish you every happiness.

PS: I would advise against confronting this guy if you ever do find him though, if you're anything like me you'd end being the one banged up for feeding him his own liver.

I'm very late to the party on this thread, but as someone who lost the love of his life last year after a long battle against various illnesses which I won't go into here. I can testify , enjoy your life with Donna. Its way, way too short mate. I have everything I could wish for. A nice house. great kids and a garage full of bikes, but like many who have lost their partners too soon, I'd trade it all to have my beloved Yvonne back with me. As we all know, death is a one way ticket out of this life. So enjoy what you have whilst you have it. I can see from this thread that's exactly what you are doing and good on yer mate.

What a beautiful photo, @johne. I am sorry for your loss of the love of your life. You are so right that "death is a one way ticket out of this life. So enjoy what you have whilst you have it". Thanks for the reminder.:heart::heart:

Wise words mate, you never know how long you have to enjoy it, you have to live life to the full. Your story shows that life can be too short .
I know in your heart your yvonne lives on. She will always be with you.

God is good! So glad for you both!! The evil spineless coward that caused this will eventually end up where he belongs - for sure. As for you both, enjoy each other's company every day for the rest of your lives!

Fork Lock Crème de la Crème

I was just re-reading this post.

I figured that since we were into sappy love stories I'd lock my tough, grizzled biker alter ego, Fork Lock, in the closet and share mine.

I met Lori when I was working in a retail store as a manager in 1973. She was hired as a clerk. I couldn't remember where I'd seen her before. Then I remembered. I'd seen her as Gwenivere and her high school production of "Camelot" when I was dating another girl two years prior. I was smitten. Gorgeous, and she could sing! But had forgotten all about her. And here she was. She was absolutely beautiful AND rode a motorcycle! A 300 Honda Dream. Back in 1973 a girl on her own motorcycle was rare, and sexy! So, we had motorcycles in common. Ahh, a starting point! I found she was lively, funny and smart. But I thought she was out of my league. After a couple weeks I finally scraped up the courage to ask her out. To my surprise, she said "I thought you'd never ask. Couldn't you tell I've been flirting with you for weeks?" I'm kinda' dense like that. Sometimes I need to be hit over the head with a 2X4 to get my attention.

A couple weeks ago Lori and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. An accomplishment, I think, in these times. The kids, LauraLea, Faith and Abby, pestered us for weeks about what we wanted to do for our milestone (not mill stone) anniversary. Did we want to go on a cruise? Did we want to take a trip? Did we want a big party? No, no and no. We didn't want them spending a bunch of money on us. So, we suggested renting a private cabana for the day at a water park in Wildwood, NJ for the family. We had our own waiter, drinks and food all day. It was awesome!

I can honestly count the number of real arguments we have had in all this time on one hand and still have a couple fingers left over. All three of the girls have struggled with some serious health issues, but they overcame them and all three are now doing well. Lori and I have always worked as a team. I joke and put on the facade of being the tough guy (I was a cop, I had to act tough) but we have always made major decisions together (except for the time I "surprised" her when I rode up the driveway on my new V45 Magna). She forgave me after she rode it. We are just so in tune with each other. I have always felt lucky, blessed if you will, to have her.

Well, that's my love story. Still going strong.

Ok. Enough sappiness. I'm letting Fork Lock out now. Don't tell him about this post.
