Not today but yesterday…… Put new brake pads in the back of the Explorer and a ride out on the Thruxton.
No pictures of the ride out but here’s a bit of spannering on the Explorer

Local ride for Helmut and I today; Street Triple and Tuono again. We didn't venture out for the full day because of the horrible weather forecast for this afternoon, but it's been lovely!

Is your socket set a Kamasa?
I used to have one like that over 30 year ago, although I don't know if they are still trading and if they are then probably just label marketing now.
Good tools were the old ones and I still have some odd remnants of my original sets.

Yes @Eldon well spotted, that socket set is a Kamasa. That was originally my dad's and handed down to me with lots of other tools when they moved to a smaller house with no garage and he'd decided that he didn't need loads of tools anymore.
I'll let him know that his socket set has been identified by a forum member!
I remember him buying it when I was still at school, so that's around 35 years ago.
The need to buy it was because the garage had been burgled and vast majority of his tools stolen.
I was just getting into motorbikes & cars so had an small involvement into what he (we) needed when creating a list of stuff to spend the insurance payout money on.
I agree Kamasa is a fantastic brand and that particular 1/2" drive socket set has done a lot of work over the years and still going strong (although the whitworth and imperial sockets are rarely used now!)
I've also got my dads Kamasa 1/4" drive set where surprisingly the ratchet broke and I replaced it with something I could get my hands on the same day- a Halfords professional. Both of these sets are fully complete and no sockets missing
The halfords replacement ratchet is absolutely fine but writing this has prompted me to have a look online for availability of Kamasa replacements.
And yes, they're still trading so a task later will be to order a new 1/4" drive ratchet to put back to a full Kamasa set!

Funny @FellZebra you should mention the ratchet as I recall that was the sets achilles heel. The teeth started slipping on mine and so it was binned but the quality of the sockets material and construction meant they lasted years.
I have all sorts of tools in my workshop, some modern and some quite old stuff i.e. Commando folding barb wire cutters from the 2nd World War.
They all have a place and use at times.

Thruxtons are quite rare over here. Imagine the luck of finding a virtually brand new standard solo seat for my Thruxton only an hour away from my home.
My bike had the dual comfort seat on it when I got it. It's nice, but I never ride duo and I think the solo seat looks much better, plus it's just as comfortable. Passenger pegs can go too, as well as the Hepco & Becker rack.

I had a nice ride around the North York Moors today. I was suprised to see the Heather already coming into flower, its usually out mid to late July and into August. 20230618_120831.jpg

Which part of the moors and did you stop at any village cafes? I live in Stokesley so the moors are only up the road

I live near Filey on the coast Steve, so I went along the A170 to Pickering then up past the NYM railway station in the town centre and on to Stape and continued to Egton Bridge. Then more or less came back via another single track road over the moors to Rosedale Abbey. Then out again to the Blakey ridge road, past the Lion pub and down to Hutton Le hole. No cafe stops today, I bimbled around dodging the sheep and lambs enjoying the scenery. Just out of interest, I find when I'm not in a hurry, that 'rain mode' which I rarely use normally, is great for soft throttle response on the Street triple. Mebbe it should be renamed, rain/sight seeing mode? :joy: My shoulder is still a bit sore following a bad accident I had in the Spring (nothng to do with bikes I hasten to add) so I haven't been doing any longer trips on the bike recently. My round trip today was about 110 miles and the shoulder held up pretty well. As you know the small roads up there can be pretty bumpy, even at low speeds.

Great, I've done those routes a few times myself! Often stop at one of the cafes in Hutton-le-Hole or at Grosmont station tea rooms.
I like your idea of rain mode being "sight seeing mode" and might try that myself. Only had the Street Triple just over a week and loving it (currently up in Northumberland and already made two trips over the border).

Hi, Steve! Nice to see you here. Very cool that you now have a Street Triple. Have you posted a photo on this forum? If not, I'd surely love to see your new acquisition.

Hi Sandi, it's good to be back!
I traded in the Yamaha for the Street Triple after a test ride on the latest RS. They happened to have three used examples for sale and I chose a 2019 765 RS. :D

I almost didn't get to ride it home as the registration details did not match up with the DVLA's (Driver and vehicle licensing Agency) online records. The previous owner had changed his address and left the dealer with the old registration document meaning my bike couldn't be taxed and registered in my name as the system said "bike not found"

The guys at A1 Moto realised what had happened and tried to contact the last owner to sort things out and in the meantime fitted a trade plate to the bike so I could ride it - covered by their insurance and their licence.

Here it is on my way home through the Castle Howard Estate looking like I have a diplomatic plate!

It was all sorted by the next morning and the best thing was, the dealer paid my road fund licence for the year by way of an apology

Spent the morning riding over the North York Moors to celebrate with a breakfast at Goathland tea rooms :D

Thanks for your terrific update, Steve, and congratulations on that beautiful new Street Triple! Couldn't stay away from Triumph, eh? ;) What great photos and what a funny--yes, diplomatic looking--number plate. :joy: It's nice to reconnect! Hope you've been good. :kissing_heart:

Very nice, @LexvanH! I've had two Thruxtons but none in the garage at the moment. I miss them! Enjoy yours. :)

Slipped a bit of garage time in tonight as I want this on the road soon.
I managed to take the front indicator mountings further using a few bits of aluminium I had hanging about.

    20230620_192208.jpg

(Edit: Bizarrely that is not a scratch on the front mudguard but a cobweb, I had to go back in to check and put my mind at rest :dizzy:)

Happy with the trial fit so bashed on despite the wife showing displeasure, apparently our tea was ready
Sorry, the bikes more important

A nice neat job that is @Eldon. That’s going to look great when powdercoated with those indicators.
And yes that difficult balance between garage time and other things like eating tea……I know it well!!
    What make are those indicators?
