About a year ago I posted a number of pictures of CNC plasma cut vintage British motorcycles. They were 19" long and cut from 1/8" mild steel.

Out of curiosity, I sent my designs off to a laser cutting service to see how small they could be made using that process rather than plasma arc. I thought some of the forum members might be interested in seeing the results. Shown are nine out of the 20 or so I had laser cut out of stainless steel.

The first photo shows an original 19" long plasma cut Vincent Black Shadow along with its laser cut counterpart. The other photos show a standard deck of playing cards for size comparison.

Note that I only had one each of these made, as I have no interest in trying to sell them.

    They look great ;)
So much detail and in proportion.

Out of interest, and if you don't mind sharing, how much did they charge you for cutting?

It varied slightly for each different model. Pricing was quantity based for each piece. As I mostly had only one of each model made they averaged about $28 each. I had two done of a couple of bikes, and the price dropped 20%.

Were they from drawings scanned in or .dxf files or something off Solidworks etc?

I do like those, nice idea ;)

I drew them all from scratch by tracing over photographs of actual bikes.

I think you could have a small business opportunity there. They look awesome and I suspect very saleable.

I appreciate the kind words, however, at age 83 my business days are over. I just enjoy making them and showing them off.
