A Yuasa YTX12-BS AGM MF Battery is the correct one for your machine, an alternative is the MotoBatt battery part number MBTX12U. A lithium battery will need a dedicated charger and they are not all they are made out to be, you will need to buy a known reputable brand one, if going down that route. If Halfords do not stock, or can't get the battery then buy online from say M@P or Sportsbike direct.

 

Just to follow up on what @Iceman says. AGM batteries are the safest route to take, not only are LiFePO4 batteries intolerant of charge voltages over 14.5 volts you need to make sure that the electrical infrastructure of your 2015 machine is up to the task of dealing with the high outputs that LiFePO4 batteries are capable of.

As for what battery fits what bike I would have a good look at the space allocated to your battery and measure the void’s maximum dims, maybe even relocating adjacent components like the fuse box.

Having decided the maximum size battery you can fit in that space look at the reputable battery manufacturer’s websites to see what is available, taking note of how the terminals are located. No point in buying a larger battery only to find that your leads can’t reach the terminals.

When the usual 12 amp/hour battery expired on my Ducati I found that I could just fit an 18 amp/hour Odyssey battery in its place. That was over ten years ago and it’s still going strong.

 

Don't get confused by "high output", a replacement LiFePo4 battery is still only 12v, well 13.2 actaully when fully charged. Li batteries are capable of delivering very high currents for their size but the bike's electrical syetem will only draw what it needs and will operate at over 13v anyway when the engine is running.
I think this has been discussed on another thread somewhere.
A LiFePo4 drop in replacement for a 12v LA battery should come with some sort of built in BMS so it can be charged by the vehicle's charging system. They are an expensive answer to a non existent "problem" IMO but each to his/her/their own.

 

I dont trust halfords especially with batteries. I looked on their website for a battery for my bike and the one they recommended had the terminals the wrong way round, looking at mine on the bike, the positive terminal is on the gearchange side, on theirs it was on the rear brake side and my leads are very short.

 

Yes recently had this on a friends MT07 when he'd bought a cheap battery from somewhere.
If I recall correctly, the last x2 letters of the code indicates the + - orientation.

 

AGM batteries can be positioned in virtually any orientation because the electrolyte is held in an absorbent material between the lead plates. My Street Triple has the battery laid on it’s side.

And as to a solution to a problem that doesn't exist... led lights ? Just a better way to do it !?
I went all led lights in my house approx 15 yrs ago , I've helped save the planet by using less power , and , the purse with lower bill's for the family budget... More for whatever is needed, rather than pay through the nose for over priced power , went solar too just a few yrs later...
Problem that didn't exist Solved ....

 

Not a good comparison. LED's = more light for less power. We have them too in the house and on the bikes/cars. Solar power = free power, sometimes. What benefit does a Li battery give you over a decent LA battery? Absolutely none. Forget the few lbs in weight saving on a road bike, it's negligible.

Yeah, well I think I'll just put up with my "problem" LA battery, save some ££ and help save the planet by not contributing to the environmental impact of Lithium mining.

 

Well , they have been mining lead a lot longer than Li ion ! And it's toxic too , they make Bullets from it ..spray them endlessly over the planet ...
Batteries are dumped indiscriminately world wide..
So pollution doesn't cut it as an excuse to stick with very old Tech.

 

Hi , I have had the same result on the Halfords site, but yes the Yuasa YTX 12BS is the correct one , and fits perfectly. I did buy it from Halfords , got a £5 discount for joining their Motorist club thingy

 

If you are a regular Halfords customer you should look at applying for one of their trade cards. I have one and read somewhere that membership of the RAC or even CostCo can get you through the door.
