Hello everyone, Newbie here... Please weigh in with some help! I have a 2016 Thruxton R 1200. Is the OBDLink-MX scan tool suitable for my bike, and, does Triumph have or require an app to apply this tools successful application? Thank you in advance. CMAC
Hi there, If you have the dongle (Bluetooth I presume?) then you need tuneecu (on android) to make life easy. Head over to tuneecu website for more information. It’ll say what you require to connect.
Welcome. Don't know about the Thruxton specifically, but I have successfully used the OBDLink-MX on my 2020 Street Triple no problem.
X2 on TuneECU. I use TuneECU on my Andoid phone ($10.99 for the app), and an OBDII Bluetooth reader I bought on Amazon ($24.99 Bafx Products) on my 2019 Scrambler 1200XC. It not only allows me to easily clear the service icons from the TFT, it effectively diagnoses and troubleshoots everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) touched by electricity on the bike.
Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005NLQAH...olid=1EMBW279JR8YS&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it Counting the time it took to download the TuneECU app and establish the Bluetooth link, it took about four minutes to clear the maintenance icon from my TFT. Edit: the price has dropped 20% since I bought mine.
CMAC Welcome to the family. Great intro fantastic picture. You will fit right in here in the asylum. Joe.
Double check the TuneECU site for dongles. Some will only read the ECU and clear the flash while some can write to it also. The MX should cover everything if memory serves me right.
thanks for the lead - I’ve just input my XE and it says not compatible with the model (see pic) which is bloody weird. There’s another model that’s around $60 (Aus) that looks exactly the same. Call me dazed and confused!
