Is there a specific Tiger 660 sport paddock stand or any that can be adapted? I ask because I have two paddock stands front/rear that fitted my BMW F800ST. I know the rear will never fit but bought 2 hooks for the front stand thinking they would fit on the rear. On fitting them to the stand and trying them on the bobbins it’s quite obvious that the whole thing is far too narrow. Good job they only cost £8.00. So any suggestions as to be a good paddock stand?
I have just bought the Oxford Premium rear paddock stand, though I have the Trident 660. Don't know if the swingarm is the same as the Tiger Sport 660 but many other parts are identical. It fits my bike fine. I do have the Triumph bobbins fitted. Sportsbike shop have the stand on offer at £65. It is very sturdy and comes with both bobbin forks and L brackets.
You say you already have paddock stands. If the rear ones are the type that cradle under the swing arm on both sides you can probably adapt them. I have one of the above type stands for use on my Ducati. A bit of a pain to fit, too far forward and they rub on the cans and too far back and they clash with the sprocket nuts. Anyway having bought myself a new Street Triple R to which I fitted the rear bobbins I set about modifying the stands to use on the new machine. The original swing arm cradles are on the end of a M12 bolt that goes through the stand upright. These were replaced with a plain zinc plated M12 bolt of suitable length onto which I fitted an 3mm ally plate with two holes. One for the M12 and one just large enough for the bobbin to go through. The heads of the bolts were uncomfortably close to the swing arms so I ground the heads down to about a third of original thickness and made a cap using my hot glue gun. This I did by holding the ally plate horizontally smearing the surface lightly with grease, cutting a 12mm length of 22mm copper pipe, grease the inside and making sure there are no internal burs on the cuts. Slide the bolt into the ally plate and put the copper ring around the bolt head and filled it flush with hot glue. To keep the ally plates and bolts from sliding back through the stand upright I circumcised my garden hosepipe to provide some flexible spacers. In hindsight I could have put the two holes closer together to give more lift but haven’t found it wanting, yet. So I have now bought another pair of bobbins and am working on fitting them to the Duke, in a non destructive way. Further words fail me so see photos and hopefully all will become clear.
The rear paddock stand is from a BMW F800ST so no way adaptable. I’ll probably try and sell the rear and front and buy one I’ve seen that I think will fit. I’ve asked the question if it will but still waiting for a reply.
