Hi Thoughts on luggage options for the 1200 RS/RR
I am keen to get the official tank bag/tail pack. However they don't appear to come with straps, that if you want to take only one and throw it over your shoulder you can't .

The dealer offered to do both for approx £300

For that price was thinking a kreiga set up ?
What sort of size bags are comparable in size to triumph? Anyone have a similar set up?

    Regards Philip

    These would probably fit.

If you have a few screws on your seat and chassis, i'd say yes. They are only short mounting loops and just fold out of the way if you don't use them.
    Great tbh.
You can see how they mount on my speed rs 1050 so if it's kinda the same under your seat? All good.

Looks like the Kriega system didn’t work on the 1200RS a few months ago. Best to contact them via their website

Fair play - sent an email to Kreiga and they got to me this morning

"I have sorted a fitting for the 1200RR with another customer.
You will need 2 additional bolt in loops that will go into the pillion grab strap bolts, the rear mounting is made up with 2 subframe loops joined to make a double loop and threaded into the plastic mould of the seat seen ion the image here"

And they some photos. I'll buy from them and get the US 20 for the tail and a US 10 for the tank :)

I removed strap on pillion pad and attached 2xloops at front
fed 2xloops ( from ebay) through hard plastic loop at rear .
    Works for me ...

Never got round to buying luggage….. on the hunt again.
I’m looking at an Oxford QR30 tank bag. It has one of those fuel cap adapters . I assume there is no issue with fitting the adaptor to the Speed RR with? (Fillling up the tank bag with 30ltr stuff, is weighty)

If you read the reviews on the link it says no.
Apparently they were looking into options a year ago so could be worth a phone call to assess any progress.

Spoke to Kriega. They said for the 1200, you need a few extra bolts, and they'd send them with the bag.

For me. A friend has offered me Oxford lifetime soft panniers for £20!

I have a short trip to Germany lined up. So I'll use these for the time being.

My question is. Do I need a pillion seat, or I assume it's not an issue, as I'm feeding through the straps underneath the seat

So. In last min panic mode. I”m hoping to leave sunny droitwich on Monday and head to Germany for a week riding. And…I never got round to getting luggage.

    So.
    1. Anyone near Droitwich have a tank/tail bag they no longer need, and I could purchase.
    2. Failing that. It’s off to ‘the shops’ - I see a brand called Rhinowalk do cheapish saddle bags. More than I need for a week. A rucksack and tail/tank bag will do. But anyone got experience with Rhinowalk on the Speed? :)

I wouldn't use a rucksack as it spoils the riding experience.
How about one of those 40 litre roll top bags across the pillion seat?
I have one, fully waterproof and only about £40. Carried all my stuff for a weeks camping when used with a tank bag.

    Yeah.
Just ordered an Oxford one. £50 :)

    Question.
How did you fit it? IE. Was it easy enough on the Speed Triple. I guess I'll have to re fit my pillion pegs.
I'm only going for a week. So it probably won't be really full. Does that matter?

I havent got a speed triple so can't directly advise on your application.
When I had my Honda, I bought a piece of that spongy sheet and duct taped it around the tail to stop the bag scratching the paintwork in the wind, grit etc.
Yes, I'd refit the rear peg brackets just so you have bungy points for the hooks to sit.

On the '12 S3R I use a magnetic tank bag made by MotoFizz and a small MotoFizz tail bag with expandable sides. I've had both for years.

I've attached the tail bag straps to the sub frame under the seat, so when the bag is not in use the straps stay attached and are stowed underneath the seat. Aerostich carries them here in the US.

Hello Philip! Seeking an alternate to the endorsed tank bag/tail pack for your 1200 RS/RR? You could think about Viking Bags. They offer plenty of motorcycle luggage choices that might be as big as Triumph bags. Go ahead, and browse their collection, maybe you'll find the perfect one for you.
