Not seeing many posts on here about the Trident 660. Believe they have sold a lot of them, including one of them to me. As yet another returning old geezer to the biking world I'm very pleased with mine. Not too heavy, pretty nippy and not too big to handle at my age. Very good value too imho. Anyone tried one and not liked it? For what reason?
Anyone think of a reason why there are so few contributions on here from Trident 660 owners?

Agree, pretty sure that it has quite often been the best selling bike in its category. Nice looking in my opinion and about right for specs, all reviews seem to rate the handling. As much as I like the looks I would have to lean towards the Tiger 660 with my knees as it gives them a little less bend.

Great looking bike and as you say good value. The seating position is for a younger person though (or an older person with great joints), foot pegs are quite high. These are significantly lowered on the 660 Sport. For that very reason I just fitted the Trophy pegs/linkages to my Daytona (both 90's bikes) which lowered them 55mm and 45mm further forward, bliss.

They have sold a shed load, think it was MCN i read only the bmw GS's where selling better. Maybe more riders using the other trident forum, or maybe just not alot of issues with it, so fewer posts.
Also a returning biker, picked it up end of september, and so glad i went with the trident, once past the 4/5k run in and first service the bikes an absolute riot to be on. This was the first weekend i didnt take it out, felt lost, just sitting looking at it !

It's funny how different bikes can fit different riders. I have just come back to bikes after 16 years, last bike was a Honda CBR600. I'm 69 next week, 5'11" with 32 inch inseam. The Trident should be too small for me, but it felt just right in the showroom and confirmed by a test ride. Have had some trouble with arthritis in the hip too, but I'm in pretty good nick otherwise, fortunately.
I rented a Street Tri[le R for a few days but that was too cramped by far. I spent ages reading all the advice about bike fit, but there's no substitute for trying them out. This little online tool was useful though http://cycle-ergo.com/ You enter your height and inseam, and try different bikes. It compares angles of hips, knees and forward lean. Obvs not very accurate but ok for comparisons.

All good points, Allan. It's been icy here for a week and a load of snow last night (a load is 2 inches down here :) ) Bad enough to keep me off the road, so I keep "having" to deal with something or other in the garage, to take a peek.

Ye its not best weather, no snow here, but sub zero tempratures enough to stop me taking it out. Driving the car today at - 5 on untreated roads is proving intertaining at least

I'd have one if the back end did not look quite so upward pointing and you could get a centre stand for easier cleaning/maintenance. Cannot see any hints on the interweb but I'm really hoping we'll get a more "Tiger" version soon as I'd like something a smidge lighter that looks like a 900 GT.

I test rode one just to see what they were like, value wise they can't be faulted, it rode and handled well, personally I did not find it exciting enough. What has impressed me lately is the new Honda CB750, it has 90bhp and weighs 190kg fuelled up, 0n the accessories front there are 3 kit options, very competitively priced, the colours look good to, and the machine retails at £6999, what's not to like.

Yes I know what you mean about the back of the seat being higher than the front. I do find it a bit of a stretch to cock a leg over it, though I have fitted a small rear bag too, which does not help! But even with my slightly arthritic hips I can just about manage it. Hefty boots with thick soles help raise me up a bit.
Otherwise there's always the "cowboy mount."
I did have Triumph rear bobbins fitted, intending to get a paddock stand. Haven't bought one yet though as I'm not sure about getting the bike onto it on my own. Anyone have any thought on that?

As long as you have something at the rear of the bike to get hold of to control lean angle as you begin the lift you should be ok.

My paddock stand, originally bought for my Ducati cradled the swing arm both sides. Too far forward and it rubbed the underside of the cans and too far back and the cradles clashed with the sprocket nuts. A bit of a pain.

So when I bought the Street Triple I fitted the bobbins and this is how I modded the stand to suit. Just have to fit some bobbins to the Ducati now.
