I'm relatively new to Triumph after owning a string if Japanese bikes and more recently Italians. I always admired Meriden Bonnies, but didn't want to own one, I like to ride more than do maintenance I bought a 10 year old 865 Bonneville and was impressed with what a nice easy going machine it was. The other day a Speed Twin 1200 came up for sale, well it has been for a while, it was in a flood and underwater for 3 days. It had a resurrection and I took the gamble and bought it at half price, it was a new bike before the flood. What a brilliant machine, it has all the good features of the 865 plus so much more. I hope it keeps going, this thing, although not a powerhouse being only about 99hp is still fast enough to be fun and it handles so well, hopefully even better with a few suspension tweaks. The best thing I've owned in my 55 years of riding.
Cant get enough of that engine. And the snappy gearing. And not appearing to be a hooligan. Perfect. Enjoy.
