    Hi Sonny,

....many thanks for this thread and the photos........this job has been on my list of 'things to do' for a while......your pics have motivated me to move it up the list from mid-way to the top for tomorrow morning.

Is that a silver spring circlip type retainer you are prising out?..........any chance of a few words to talk us through the pics please Sonny?

Does anybody know if anybody at the Factory reads this Forum?....they could pick up some useful gen and simple short cuts to improve the breed quicker on here.......if they do read this thread......get the folks on the assembly line to start putting the Monza cover on the right way in the first place please!.......

    Cheers,

Just gently lift out the black plastic fixing ring from inside (fingernails or flathead driver). Then rotate the cap clockwise to release from the lugs. Turn the cap 180 degrees. Refit into lugs by turning counter clockwise. Gently push fixing ring back down with fingers. Job done.

Five years further on........this thread is still useful. I've just been out to my garage and reversed the cap on the '16 TTR that I bought two months ago, I don't know why the factory, the dealer or the previous owner didn't do this....it just looks much better!! (But then the previous owner left all the ugly safety stickers on the tank!). Thank you Sonny.
