Why Has The Tiger1200 Got A Hydraulic Clutch

You'll have to ask Triumph that one. Hydraulic clutches don't need adjusting so self compensate for wear. They also require less maintenance which is a big plus on an off road/dirt bike and you could argue they are ultimately more reliable. Cable clutches are cheaper.

 

In my experience, hydraulic clutches certainly do not require more maintenance. When you drop a road bike, I agree, the flimsy plastic fluid pots used for clutch/brake fluid are very easily damaged. "Proper" off road bikes have a much stronger design. The Husaberg has had countess spills offroad and even two on the road, one at around 40mph when it slid and hit the kerb and it escaped virtually unscathed! I don't know what setup
the Tiger has but spot the difference.......

 

There's also the potential to reduce the lever force with a hydraulic clutch actuation. No idea whether Triumph have done that?
