    50cc's of displacement, or so the nomenclature would indicate, but that's really not the case. The Tiger 850 sport actually has the same engine as the Tiger 900 line, it's just detuned for less performance.

    Other than that, it's essentially a stripped-down, road-biased 900 GT.

    Yeah, that's what I found so confusing at first: two adventure bike series of the same size with the same engine. I'd have expected the 850 to be a sub-model within the 900 range of what, five other bikes.

    I'd love to see a TS 880, assuming that's the proper nomenclature for a larger version of the TS 660.

    When Triumph launched the new Tiger 900 models, the range included the basic 900, the 900 GT and the 900 GT Pro (and the Rally equivalents).

    The 900 didn't sell, so it was quietly dropped from the range. It then reappeared as the 850 Sport with a few bhp less but appears to sell well. Marketing success for Triumph. :D

    Thanks for the explanation. One can only hope the price went down a bit along with the bhp as a fig leaf toward rationality.
