Pannier Users: How Often Do You Ride Without?

I have a medium-sized pelican case permanently mounted as a top case on my Tiger. That's where I keep things like my toolkit, tire repair stuff, jb-weld, zip ties, extra fuses, helmet cleaning supplies, and everything else that I always want with me.

The side panniers are usually off the bike, unless I need the extra cargo capacity, because I prefer how the bike looks and handles without them mounted.

 

I just leave them and the top box on permanently as I don’t have anywhere else to keep them. I could put them on the bench in my garage but I would just need to move them whenever I wanted to use the bench. They are very easy to remove as I remove them when I wash the bike.

 

I took them straight off my Sport Glide and will only use them when necessary (traveling, perhaps commuting when I need a change of clothes, etc). I tend to filter a fair bit, and the fact that it's easier to do so without them is good enough reason for me.

Only put them on my NightStorm when I really need to, prefer the cleaner look without

 

Only use them when need to on my K16. Take bike out of garage. Remove panniers and put them where the bike was. Reverse the process when I get back.

 

Are your pannier brackets quick release or just standard

 

That's the down side mate, they are standard so take a while to reconfigure Not got any frames so just what the bags came with

 

Panniers are left off unless I need them, the top box stays on for 90% of the time.
The bike's a tiger sport so they're quick to put on and take off.

 

I don't use saddle bags/ panniers!
Much simpler tow a trailer !!

You can pack a trailer well in advance of a planned trip ! Whilst still using your bike to ride or commute. I have a huge block (Australian Country Living) so trailer is parked in the backyard.

I found panniers Whether empty or loaded , the wind drag used heaps more fuel , lost as much as 1•5 km a litre

 

I always ride with my throw-over panniers because I carry around a load of stuff all the while, just in case. Though I normally only use water, coffee flask and packed lunch, and occasionally store and swap jumper and gloves.

It's actually a real pain, because I have to take panniers off to park bike at home, and fitting them isn't actually a case of just 'throwing them over' as I have to mess with awkward fastenings and thread it under seats.

Aesthetics wise, I think bike looks better with them than having the naked chrome pannier rails.

 

Always on the bike. I like the look and I'm a "What if?" kind of guy. I carry some foul weather gear, jacket, tools, etc. Also, a powerful flashlight that I can attach to the handlebars and a magnetic, red, LED light that will get me home if the headlight or taillight take a dump

I bought a mt09 tracer it came with full genuine luggage set,that's not why I bought it though and I've used the top box on good few occasions handy for beer and locks b&q shit as doing up house,but not used the side luggage though it's handy to have.

 

Should've said yes it's all quick release stuff just put on bracket turn key job done.

 

I use my panniers and top box if I’m running errands or touring. Both are quick release, so easy to take on and off the tiger.

 

Mine usually stay on my Third nightstorm, the bags are easy enough to remove but leave the ugly mountings behind.
But very handy for the odd bit of shopping to be fair.
