When I had my Tracer serviced at a dealer last year (2 year) they stripped and cleaned the front calipers at no extra charge because they said they were sticking a bit. I thought that was pretty good of them.

 

When I bought my Honda Civic, it came with four years left of a pre-paid five year service plan so naturally I took it to a Honda dealer. They would always tell me the brake pads were 80% worn or it needed new wiper blades. The brake pads would always do at least another 1,000 miles and I'd get my own blades (if needed) for less than half what they wanted to charge me. I used to hear them tell other people the same stories and most people would agree to the "extras". It's a good little earner.

It is not exactly plug&play as it is advertised, but it can be installed if you have few basic tools and 3-4 free hours for it.

@Helmut Visor and I attended a local car / bike meet today on our Triumphs, had a good natter to people and came home again. All very sociable (I have to be in the mood to "people" ).

 

And washer fluid. BMW were dreadful and even went as far as discs and pads, not just pads.

Just got back from the South of France on the Tiger, bit of a heatwave out there, ranging between 27c at the start to 32c when I left.

 

Sent away for this bad boy,, since my £230 service didn't include either chain adjustment or lube,,, memo to authorised dealer's,, dont tick the box if it hasn't been done.

 

Just the commute for me today, great ride each way though .

 

I got one of them and the fit (imho) is crap. Too long as it hits the edge of the tyre and too "big" to fit nicely between the sprocket bolts (at the rear, you'll see what I mean...)
However, it works WAY better if you actually remove a sprocket nut and bolt (only needs to be one) so it actually fits on the "ring" correctly. Try it as it really does work better as you put the spanner in the gap where there ISN'T the bolt/nut.

 

As soon as I read this I was straight to the garage, opened the seat to measure it against the triumph tool. Was surprised to see that the hook end wasn't a replica, think it must fit other makes too. Happy to say I had no trouble adjusting the chain without removing any bolts.only problem was banging my forehead on the number plate trying to see what I was doing , I think a tail tidy is going on the Xmas present list.

 

Despite having reasonably sized hands (so I'm told ) I find the reach on my Tiger 1050 factory fitted clutch lever a bit of a stretch, even on the closest setting...

Although I've started on the seemingly unfathomable discovery of the ins and outs of motorcycle lever replacements...I have done the "ghetto fix" on the lever adjustment pin...

Seems to have helped ... I've now got the lever about one phalange back

 

Commute again today - nothing special but I may as well enjoy the ride to work if I have to go .

About a 70 ish mile round trip give or take the odd mile depending upon which route I take. One way can take well over an hour in the car if traffic is heavy on the most direct route as it's a road with very few overtaking opportunities and plenty of traffic.

One of my options is a twisty road through great scenery that bikers favour at the weekend and the other is still fairly twisty but much busier as it's the most direct route between where I live and where I work. Both are fast, rural A - roads so pretty good until I reach the city I work on the other side of which can be very slow to get through.

 

Replaced the upper rear shock bolts with some machined washers and bolts that I found on the Pro-Bolt website.



I think they go nicely with the Rocket 3 bar ends that I fitted earlier in the year.

 

Haha .. (sorry, but know what you mean !) When in a hurry them number plates can slow things up from the blood dribbling into eye, a quick and cheap fix is to attack it with a hammer .. and yell " There, you basturd !!! " after the second time,anyway.
