Hello From Texas

    Hello from Dallas,

    Replaced my Honda Rebel 1100 with a new Bonneville Speedmaster last Saturday (5/14). Big difference in the ride and handling. The seat on the Bonneville is so much more comfortable than the Honda.

    Not a fan of of the beach bars, so I'm changing those out. Other than that, I've got no complaints.

    Rebel was a great bike, but very uncomfortable to ride for more than an hour or so. I considered going with an Indian Scout or Chief, but the Triumph looks so much classier, like a work of art.

    Welcome from a fellow Speedmaster rider. I too didn't like beach bars and had the straight ones fitted when I bought it new. (Required different clutch cable and brake hose). I've since modified it further and now have T120 bars on some up-and-over risers with yet another brake line and clutch cable.

    Thanks for that info and links.
    I've got some Rox risers on right now to just feel out how high I want the bars. They are currently at 7 inches of rise and around 1.5 forward. I will be swapping the ROX out with the up and over Motone risers and some home made spacers. I've got a lathe so I can turn mine own.

    I've already rerouted the front brake line and clutch cable.

    How did you handle the electrical? Is there enough slack under the gas tank?

    There's no slack in the electrical wires under the tank. That wasn't a problem for me because I don't have the original 'beach bars', instead I have straighter bars from the T120, making the switchgear nearer the front of the bike, even with the up-and-over risers.
