So I did the Cheshire ride.

    We gathered at Tatton Park

There were some really sweet bikes.

Some lovely old bikes that took me back to my youth; I never owned one but I wouldn't have said no.

Here's one for Sandi. The parts manager for a Harley dealership was there with a Fat Boy that he'd borrowed. While we were chatting he let me sit on it to try it on for size, considerably less intimidating than I expected, but I couldn't get used to foot forward riding or having the side stand hidden by the footboard, I'd be so scared of dropping it:worried:.

The organisers were on the Beemer and the Guzzi in the background.

No pictures of the ride I'm afraid, but it was a lovely run through Cheshire towns and countryside, the route being Tatton Park to Knutsford (parade around the town), then on to (footballers central) Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, and Prestbury, then on to Macclesfield (not in the same league (see what I did there?)), then to Congleton, to Holmes Chapel and end at The Jodrell Bank Observatory for a coffee and a cake.

I have to say the sound of all those twins and singles harmonising was awesome sweet music:D.

For me this pic of my bike next to the Thruxton (which was immaculate) with the radio telescope in the background sums up how special the day was:cool:.

Afterwards I joined my wife and eldest daughter (who had been at all the stops to cheer us on:heart:) for a lovely late dinner at a nice pub in Brereton.

Back home my daughter took this pic of her very satisfied distinguished father;).

I hope to do the DGR again next year.

    I'm glad I got my bike:cool:.

What a great DGR you had, @RevPaul! Thanks for sharing the photo of the Fat Boy you sat on. I'm not that surprised that you didn't find it intimidating. I find that it's quite a comfortable bike and nice ergonomics. It lifts easily off the side stand for a big bike--but, yes, that side stand design could definitely use an upgrade! Every time I park El Gordo I am very mindful of the stand and give it a couple of hard nudges just to be certain that it's completely engaged and stable. I do think you'd be surprised how easily you could adapt to the foot forward floorboard position. Yes, when I first got a bike with that setup it felt quite odd but now it feels good to me, relaxed and comfortable.

It looks like there were oodles of super cool bikes there. I enjoyed seeing the pic of your Street Cup next to that Thruxton. And that Thruxton looks very similar to my very first Triumph, a 2012 Thruxton 900 in black with a gold stripe.

Thanks for your DGR report, RevPaul!

I just paid Bikerpics £12.50 for this photo so thought I’d better bloody well use it! :joy:

It's a great photo, Geoff! Well, worth the cost, I'd say.

I happened to be in York by chance when everyone left and did a quick video of everyone on my phone passing by. Unfortunately doesn’t seem like I can add it on here. If anyone would like a copy pm me your email address assuming the file is small enough

If you upload it to YouTube you can then post a link to it on here. Might be easier in the long run.

Me too, they came as part of this year’s sticker pack, my daughter wants me to keep them on the bike, I’m not so sure,I think the “joke” will get tired after a while.

Looking good, @Cpl-Clott! Looks like you were dressed for the occasion and had a good time. :) I love that Thruxton of yours. I had a 2016 R the same color.
