Hello, I'm Doug Smith and I live in Minden, LA USA. I have a 95 Trident 900 and need a swingarm. The closest dealer is 95 miles away. I found a swing arm on Ebay for a 2001 Trophy 900. The configuration looks identical but it appears to be painted black. That will make no difference to me if it will fit. Can anyone get me this information or tell me where I might find it? I like the Triumph just rode it to work today and noticed the pinch bolt on the right side that holds the chain adjustment was loose and the structure was cracked on the top side so it cannot be tightened up. Hi Doug. First off - I would SERIOUSLY recommend you do NOT ride the bike until the swingarm is replaced. If it's cracked where I think it might be cracked then the adjuster isn't being clamped and could allow the eccentric to rotate altering the wheel alignment - not a good thing to be happening at any speed. It's not uncommon for them to break usually as a result of consistent overtightening of the clamp bolt. The Trident and Trophy swingarms are, I think, the same - assuming both are from carburetted 900 (885cc) models - the colour is, as you say, immaterial. I would also recommend that you get a workshop manual - at very least a Haynes manual - covering the Trident. If you stick with it you should get many, many happy miles out of The Trident. Let's see some pictures of it and, perhaps, include one of that cracked swing arm?
Hi Doug, As a professional welder I would suggest you stop using the motorcycle immediately as suggested by @Adie P and if you have the ability, or know someone who does have, then remove and take your existing swingarm to a suitable local fabrication shop. I don't know the model but (and assuming its made of aluminium) I weld aluminum day in day out and would happily take on such a job, or give you an honest opinion to the contrary, if you came to me. I have an ac/dc tig set at home as part of my workshop if anyone local (UK) needs any assistance I recently welded some 22" alloys for one customer yet rejected some others as too unacceptable i.e. damage wise, to put my name to.

And I rode very gingerly the 3miles home and the bike is parked in the shop, and I managed to find a unit off a 1996 900 on ebay. it is black but as we said that is no matter. I do have a very complete service manual on the bike, it is in a hard 3 ring binder and about 2 inches thick. This is one of my 7 bikes and I have gathered manuals on most of them, some more complete than others. Thank you again for the information. Be safe out there. Doug Smith
Eldon, I thought about having it welded, but I would have to take the part off the bike to have it done and if I'm going to do all that I just as well should replace it. Maybe I'll have it welded after I have replaced it and have it as a spare. You sound like a straight forward gentleman, and if I lived in the UK I would look you up. But I live in North Louisiana, USA. Just a little far away. I will be coming to Ireland and the Isle of Man for the Classic TT races and the Manx Grand Prix in late August, so I will get to see some of your part of the world. Hey Doug. You are very welcome - to both the forum and to any help and advice I'm able to offer - I hope both serve you well. Those web sites are a good start point for your immediate introduction to Triumph's T300 range but I would hope that the journey will be a long and fruitful one so, long term, you'll probably need more than just those two sources of information! One thing that you do need to be aware of is that much of the original T300 range ceased production over twenty years ago and many parts are now no longer available as original source so NOS; used original or repro. are, in the main, what you will be looking for. Hi @Doug Smith , this early era of triumph are "modular" that is to say , they made all the different types/models were made from a very high percentage of the same parts ! They share almost all the base parts .... Engine .. frame ... And a lot of ancillaries... ! Paint , panels , seats , handle bars etc were the main differences ! Engine's share many common parts ! Differences being , compression ratios (crankshaft) or camshaft timing ! So wheels , tank, swing arm, suspension and on and on are almost all interchangeable !!
