Hi, has any one had this happen on their Explorer?
The head lamp lens has melted.
I can only think it has happened when I have been starting and running the bike through winter with the front still covered.
Can you replace the lens or will I need the full unit?

Yes standard bulbs. I read on another forum that if you cover the headlight it can cause this.
I did have a thick cover on the bike and have left it covering the front when I have started my bike over winter and let it tick over for a bit.
It was an expensive mistake and I have had to order a complete unit.

Update. I ordered a complete assembly from France as it was cheaper, they said it would fit my bike but it only has a 4 pin connector instead of a 6 pin. Gutted is not the word, I have stripped the front and taken the old unit out and this doesn't fit

There are kit's for those plugs , I can't recall the name , but it's a common "water and dust" proof system , German I believe .
I was a bus / light mechanic for a company which had six buses on a mine site , where it wasn't viable to have full workshops, there was a full kit , twin - triple - quad - sextuplet and so on plug casings ! You just crimped pin's onto the wire's and assembled the plugs with wired in the correct order !!

Hi Capt, The original has six wires and the new one only four, I wouldn't have a clue about which wires went where.
I have emailed the supplier in France and will see if I get a reply.
