    Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum and I'm after a bit of advice. My wife works for a company that has lots of car and bike dealerships and due to this, can get trade in bikes at cost.
They have a 2014 Triumph Explorer in. I don't know a great deal about the different ranges but I think it's the base model. Doesn't have the spoked wheels, engine bar, fog lights or heated seats.
They have offered it to me for £7500. It is like new and fully serviced.
I've stuck a deposit on it while I have a think.
    Is that a good price?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The Explorer is a great bike and even the base model is well equipped.

Higher specification models come with fog lights and engine bars but heated seats were always an option.
There are two different model ranges (as with the Tiger) - the XC has a larger (21") diameter front wheel, comes with spokes and is more off-road orientated, whilst the XR has a 19" front wheel and alloys and is more road focused.

Not sure on prices back in 2014 but must have been around £11,000.00 new.

    Thanks for the welcome Steve.

The bike I'm looking at is exactly the same as this one. Which is priced over £9,000 but I do know this place does like to sell high. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151895935548
So for £7500 it seems like a good deal? I love the look of the bike and it fits me perfectly.

Ahh bugger it. I may just get it bought.

I bought my Explorer new in Sept 15. It cost me £10,500 for the base model but came with Paniers, heated rider seat and heated grips as an offer from Triumph. I would say £7,500 is a reasonable price to pay for a low mileage 2014 bike.

There are 7 X 2014 Explorers on eBay at the moment the most expensive is 9.5 but only has 7,000 miles on it. The least expensive is 8k but it has 26,000 miles on it. So I think £7,500 is a good price.

Btw, welcome to the forum. You will love the Explorer. A bit top heavy at walking speed but great once you get going. I also belong to an explorer forum. Great place to buy second hand accessories. As many guys take them off befor trading their bikes in.

    Thanks Littleade.
One thing that I do need to add straight away is the engine protection bars.
Are the Triumph ones the best or is there an aftermarket that is better?

You could try R&G racing - I got me crash bars for the Tiger from them and the bar end protectors.

Motec engine bars seem to be a popular choice for Explorer owners. I'm happy with my triumph ones, I'm not sure how they compare in price.
