First ride of 2022 done. My son with his A2 CB500F.
ABS and check engine light on, speedo all over the place.
I moved the rear brake caliber up with Motone relocation bracket during winter so that was the suspect. With the original bracket there is a washer between the ABS sensor and bracket. With the Motone bracket the gap is too big with the washer. Took the washer out and everything OK.

Went for another ride out today with some friends. It was a lovely 15 degrees (Celsius that is). Lovely for this time of year. We also spotted a different kind of Triumph on one of our stops ;)

The weather turned out quite pleasant after lunch so a run out over Strines was in order and on to Holmbridge with a quick pic stop at Riding Wood reservoir. It was supposed to be an afternoon spent installing new swingarm bearings on the Berg but when the Sun showed it's face I just thought Nah! where's the Triumph. :) 15 mins after the pic was taken it p****d it down for most of the way home:tired_face:.

The PO of my SC must've been riding the rear brake with heavy boots. It was metal to metal at less than 3000 miles. The disc is badly scored but it works fine since I rarely use it. The Braking non-round replacement is the only aftermarket disc I can find here in the states.

I think the only models that don't look good with asymmetry are the Bonneville twins.

The GM Gold Mist Metallic is in between the silver and gold so it blends in nicely.

That picture doesn't show how other parts contrast. Here's the big picture:

Getting the Tiger out of hibernation today and found that the chain is biting into my lovely stainless oil bag! Damdy damn damn, pig's bum.

    3.jpg

So that's had to come out and it'll have to be mounted a bit further up in the frame

    2.jpg

I've cut the cross piece out. Which has obviously done the paint and it'll sit until I weld in a new mount and figure out the positioning properly this time

    4.jpg

I'd only be bored, and maybe zoomin about in the sun if these things never happened....pffft

A sprung roller on the bottom run of the chain will help with chain flex on deceleration :)

Yes, I've been trying to locate a good one, the skateboard wheels are all over the place but I'd like a 530 cog in a bearing and sprung that welds on like the monstercraftman one. TC Bros do them but they are the other side of the pond which makes it expensive but hey ho it's not the first thing I've got from over there. I just hate the import thieves.

    111-0004_3_1.jpg

Edit - you know what? I've had another think about this and it's chain slap on the top run. I'll try a cheap skateboard sprung one off the top rail to hold the drive side down rather than trying to control the whole chain tension. I'll give it a try as the cog version would have to be dead on right in line. I hear o-ring chains aren't as bad with slap so may go there too. Problems problems, keep it stock, that's how they were designed :)

A bit further along the Dukes pass, a couple of miles before Aberfoyle is "Go Ape" an outdoor activity centre with a zip line and tree top adventure, i have to take the grand kids there as they would love it!
