Been up to Newcastle for the weekend. The fuel prices on the motorways were eye watering, unleaded at £1.84 and desiel at £1.90. How these people can justify this is just incredable. I don't understand why the government cannot do something to prevent this.

There is indeed not a noticeable difference when riding. The difference in mileage is neglectable. For winter storage however, the less E in there, the less it will attract moisture, so take that in mind when storing for winter at the end of the year.

Yes I totally agree I put away my tiger for a few months with e5 in the tank. Hopefully rich sunny will reduce the tax next week.

Had a run out on the bike today as the weather was fine and saw diesel at £1.97.9 in Castleton. Now I know it’s a bit out of the way but FFS :mad::mad::mad:
BTW I didn’t put diesel in the bike, even tho it is a tractor :)

They are. You're supposed to use public transport. :joy:

Speaking of which, I'm going to London tomorrow and the return train journey is just shy of £300. Madness.

I take it you haven't heard about 'splitting' tickets?

    https://www.splitticketing.com/

One of many sites - worth trying a couple just in case the algorithms differ.

Yes, but I’m travelling for work so need a direct, quick route and, more importantly, I’m not paying.

You'll travel EXACTLY the same train that you would anyway. You're splitting the ticket, not the journey.

So, in principle, instead of buying a single, through ticket, you'll buy a number of tickets for individual, intermediate stops on the way. You don't get off the train or do anything odd it's just a way of getting a much cheaper journey by buying individual tickets to intermediate stopping points .

    There's more here :-

    https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-train-tickets/

but, trust me, it works; it saves money (and why wouldn't you save even the company's money?) and, best of all, it's absolutely legal.

It’s quite unusual to book my own travel and they don’t seem to care so I don’t spend my time trying to save them money, either. I will try to remember next time I’m paying, though.

Just a few thoughts, about 'energy' in general.

I read an article about how 36% of an energy bill is actual energy. The rest is profit, customer service, billing, supply, etc etc...and so by rights it should only be the 36% that's increasing...but instead "it's all going up".

I chose a tarrif that says I'm on the "Betta-fer-Gretta" supply; ie 100% renewable energy. Why are these tarrifs effected by Putin's war or gas prices?

BP, Shell, Esso...whoever, have posted record profits (billions and billions)! Yet we all seem to do nothing but grab our ankles...

I don't know what we can collectively do necessarily, but there's got to be something?

We are more connected today, to each other than we ever have been. We live in the era of 'social meedya', we can organise? We can connect?

I reckon, with a concerted effort, we could probably bring down a large company quite easily....

Could you imagine if, say, for a month, there was a boycott of "A company"?

I reckon it would be on its knees, or, if not entirely, enough to make them consider their actions?

Obviously, I'm not going to organise it...but I'm just curious...is something possible? What's the flaw in the plan?

The "we provide you with 100% renewable energy" is cobblers. Electricity doesn't travel well. Wherever you are in the country you will get your power from the nearest power station, no matter how it's produced. Scotland has way more renewable sources than England, mainly wind and hydro electric power, probably because it's nearly always windy and p*****g it down.. Our nearest power station, Blackburn Meadows now burns bio mass after the old coal fired plant was decommissioned and demolished some years ago. It's around 5 miles away so that's where the Lion's share of our power will come from.

If it’s for work I’m guessing that your company will pass this cost on to the client as a disbursement.

The BP services on the A1M at Birtley and Washington have always been well above the average price.
