So now we are closer to a nucular disaster. That power station goes up it will destroy most of Europe for years not to mention Russia. But an insane man does not worry about things like that as long as he can say look i won.

    Amazing Grace
Yesterday evening I watched a video taken from the upper floors of an apartment block. The road was empty except for a substantial Russian tracked vehicle and a small Ukrainian civilian car, travelling in opposite directions and on their respective sides of the road.

As the two vehicles neared each other the Russian vehicle suddenly veered violently across the road, crushing the car so completely it looked as though it had swallowed it.

This action was so obviously a spur of the moment decision by the driver of the Russian vehicle and not a controlled manoeuvre to prevent the car travelling in the direction that it was.

Many videos hark on about the Russian soldiers having been misled into believing that they are on manoeuvres. Having seen the incident described above I start to question the ignorance of the Russian squadies.

P.S. the sole elderly lady driver of the car was miraculously unhurt, despite the car having been flattened down to window cill level.

I don't disagree about the likely outcome of the midterms. I don't think it's an endorsement of your last President, though. That will be a different race, assuming he's eligible to run at that point.

Actually I think he would be more effective as a king maker Desantis currently Fl Governor has all the appeal of Trump without the baggage and what he has done for the people of FL is amazing! But time will tell Currently I am consumed With Putins war crimes and European involvement as Biden is gutless and has no stomach for confronting Putin people of America feel very strongly about the Russian aggression and only give Biden has a 30% approval rating. But I am to old to be frightened by a Russian thug! I say BRAVO to the freedom fighters of the Ukraine ! Semper Fi !

"After a massive logistical effort we were finally rescued by the Ukrainian police" grips my S**T that these people expect others to risk their lives when they put themselves in these situations. I'm sure the Ukrainians have enough to deal with without this :triumph:

I remember a situation years ago when I think it was the BBC guy John Simpson was bleating about his cameraman being killed somewhere in the Middle East. I thought at the time, well what do you expect in a war zone you dick ?

I kind of agree about the press putting themselves at risk, but looking at how Russia in particular are twisting everything I also think they help shed some relatively independent light on what is happening.

i don't know enough about Desantis to comment so I'll take your word for that. How do you reconcile the right-wing support for Putin from some quarters, and from some politicians as well, given the clear aggressive invasion of an independent country? Given the history of the US and Rusia (USSR) I find the news coming out about that quite surprising.

What Putin's doing is appalling. I imagine the Chinese are watching closely with an eye on Taiwan's future as well. The problem is, how do you go in to Ukraine without provoking another war in Europe? Does anyone want to call Putin's bluff on nuclear? There are some complaints here with Johnson's government not doing enough to sanction the oligarchs immediately and opening the country to Ukranian refugees. What's the complaint with Biden? What would you like to see him doing at this point?

I am not disagreeing with the need to report, but rather than report from safe locations they actively seek out conflict areas just so they can win their news report awards then cry for help when it all goes pear shaped : unamused:

War correspondents are absolutely essential, deserving of respect for entering an active war zone armed only with a camera and mobile phone. I'm sure the Ukrainians are grateful that the news is not completely under control of the aggressors. Cast your mind back to other wars where the news reporter's supplied damming evidence for subsequent war trials. More power to them.
