    A little background here.
I started riding in 1980. Passed the road test which was pretty simple at the time and then moved to Vancouver. I had 2 bikes in my 2 year stint there. First one being a Honda CB450. Traded it on a CB550F. After moving back to London I sold it and concentrated on education. Well a 30 year sabbatical ensued of career, new family and home ownership. In 2012 I purchased a Honda ST1100. Three years later I traded for ST1300 ABS. Certainly an upgrade but still not what I expected. The windshield wasn't working quite right and the suspension was lacking -- more than the 1100. I performed an upgrade but still other comforts missing.
I've been looking at the K1600GT but it seems to be out of reach $$ and earlier models plagued with issues. Then I noticed the Trophy. It seems to have fewer issues than the K bike.
I currently have my eye on a 2017 SE ABS model. Just wondered if you folks can give me any warnings what I'm in for with this new ride?
    Thanks

Welcome to the family. Pretty robust bike Trophy. Not heard any bad reports about the model. Get it out for a decent test ride see if it ticks all the boxes for you and do let us all know here in the asylum.
    Joe.

Be very careful if you buy a Trophy. It can lead to extended periods away from home.

Hi and welcome. I had my trophy for three years from new when it was launched. Cracking bike that is as good on long runs or having fun in the twisties :)
Lots of electrics on board so not sure if that will cause any issues for you on an older bike. Mind I never had any problems with mine.

Greetings, and welcome to the forum, @DavidC. Thanks for the nice intro. Good luck with the purchase decision. My fingers are crossed for the Trophy. ;) Please let us know your decision and post a pic or two!

    Well thanks.
Guess I wasn't fast enough on this one. Apparently the salesman I spoke with about putting a hold on it, was off work for 3 days. Someone put an offer in. Hopefully it's pending financing and it goes south.
It's early still. I'm hoping another prestene unit comes available here.

    Thanks everyone.
The bike I was looking at is no longer on thier website. Sadly the salesman said a sale is pending. If it falls thru he said I'd be the first to know. Fingers crossed.

Bummer on that, David. :( As you said, hopefully the other offer will go south. Are you next in line for the bike with the salesman if that happens? Well, even if that bike goes by the wayside, there will be another bike out there looking for you like you will be looking for it. But in the meantime I"ll keep my fingers crossed that the Trophy works out!

Sandi T got it in one. There are other bikes out there. Don't discount the Sprints and similar they are great machines with very little trouble.
    Joe.

Hi and welcome! I am a believer in fate, if the bike is meant to be yours it will be; if not, it's because a better one's around the corner!

I think Sturgess in Hamilton has one.

    Mmm.
Don't see anything there Rod. If you are familiar with the dealer perhaps the bike hasn't been posted yet? Did you see it on a recent visit?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Thanks Joe.
I think the Sprint is for a much younger DavidC.
Once you don't hear the chain noise you never go back. Problem I see with the Sprint is no adjustable windshield or cruise control. I'm more into longer trips now and notice I didn't mention Gold Wing
I'm not there yet and don't think I'll ever be in that stigma. Bottom line is the comfort and options not to mention fuel range. My current ST will get me almost 500 klms on a tank. That's if I'm not hauling ass.

    Thank you Mrs Visor.
Actually after that long hiatus from motorcycle ownership it took me about a year to find that first bike. There were bikes 200 klms east in Toronto but nothing in London. I wasn't keen on starting back riding on a FJR or Concorse. Then a ST1100 appeared for sale around the corner from me (attachment).
I've been looking since last fall. I started looking at the K bikes but steered over to the Triumph. When I sat on a Trophy once at a London dealer I thought it was really comfortable. I hand a "like a glove" feeling so I said this will be someday. I'll keep looking.

I was in a dealership a few weeks ago with my other half, looking at what I might want for a big trip next year. I've always like the ST1100 Pan European. It's the last stop before losing the plot entirely and buying a Goldwing. When I expressed my appreciation for the Honda I was informed it was an old man's bike and if I had one we would have to re-evaluate our relationship. :D
