Is it just my luck but on my 2016 speed triple a couple of panels have poor finish (dealer didnt notice YEAH)said it would be sorted at first service, now Ive seen a scratch up the back of the fork leg (must of been a piece of grit etc trapped when fitted) and generally bad finish of the anodising on the ohlins Bit pissed off with it to say the least £11500 is a lot of money!
Contacted the salesman with no reply!!!! does anyone know all the in and outs of rejecting a bike if they dont play ball when I take it for the first service tomorrow?
    Any thoughts welcome

Good questions! Not sure on that one although in all fairness they can't really expect you to find every fault on their premises and should allow you to go through it at your own time. Eric

You don't have to find them at point of sale by law you have a "reasonable" amount of time and it should be free of minor defects.
I've had a quick read up on the new 30 day reject rules and basically give them the option to repair, once notified of the fault the 30 days rolls over until the repair is satisfactory and if not you are entitled to your money back.
The dealer is putting in a claim to triumph to replace the fork legs but we will see, I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

Oh dear Rocker, sorry to hear that Triumph are not playing ball. Do fight on though, it's the right thing to do.

Do you have any pics of the offending items you could post on here?

Hey rocker, what a ball ache! I know you shouldn't have to but go as high as you can with letter of complaint stating that you are/will be making this acceptance of poor workmanship by triumph across numerous forums etc. Keep us posted

Don't understand how dealers can get away with that,if you purchased anything from a shop your contract is with the shop not the wholesaler, importer or manufacturer, they should make sure everything is in A1 condition, if it's not they should rectify or replace and then the dealer should get credited from triumph

Hi Rocker, the reason why I was asking for pics, is that if you have good quality pics that you could post on this forum. That would allow us all to see what the problem is and those who wanted to could sign a petition that you could share with Triumph.

Unfortunately when on your own, the manufacturers think they can push you around. If they find you have solid, influential support, that might persuade them to think again.

And theres a lot of people picking up new bikes this time of year so if they know the sort of thing to look for they can reject it before signing for it

Hi all sorry for late reply
Ohlins fork legs have rings around them where they have been machined incorrectly not what you expect from "premium ohlins suspension" triumphs sales bumph.
You can reject though false advertising.
They have now (after a carefully worded email) agreed to change the fork legs but are saying they all have the fault to some degree which is unacceptable and the replacements could have the fault, so I am pushing for a refund also due to this it has made me lose confidence in Triumph full stop.
To add you don't have to find all the faults at point of sale and "signing" for the vehicle means nothing.
Will try and do some picture later but the faults don't show up very well in a photo (the sun always shines on tv) lol

They are now being quite reasonable and offered to replace the R like for like or an S (without the ohlins) and the difference back as a partial refund.
Reading up on rejecting a vehicle its a bit long winded and life is short and so is the summer.
I retract my advice of not worrying about spotting faults at point of sale as its much easier to deal with and your new bike should be checked over carefully.

Thanks for the advice Rocker, picking mine up in a couple of days will go over as much as possible, anything specific to check in detail - you mention the forks - what should I look out for exactly ?

Hope you can get these initial issues sorted because if the 2016 Speed is supposed to be better than my previous 2012 machine, it's going to be a fantastic bike to ride and enjoy.

New to the forum and sad that my first post is a reiteration of what you have written here. I have many bikes and have never seen anything quite like triumph finish.

I rejected my first explorer on collection due to a weld hole in the frame.

My new explorer has a badly scratched tank UNDER the lacquer but covered by the fairing.

I am in the process of rejecting my triple 94r due to badly chipped wheel rims on a brand new bike.

On the latter triumph have rejected the claim and asked the dealer to refurb them.

Appalling. Never had this on a jap or US bike. Just not sure I want another triumph TBH.
