Hi I am new to this so not used to forum. I have recently purchased 1959 5TA made to look like T100. Problem i have is there is no chain tension on the primary drive chain, looking at previos posts and diagrams from draganfly my bike does not have the cover with the rear drain facility where ir is possible to adjust the tension. there is no hole where the front pivot should be, so i am at a loss to know what tension device was used. can anyone help.
Yarra Welcome to the family. There are a few peeps here will know and they are invaluable with the 5ta's. Try to upload a few pictures by hitting the upload a file button bottom right corner and let us all see the cases and problems. Joe.
Hi All I have just received a call from a friend and fellow T100 enthusiast, he tells me that when unit construction engines were introduced in 1957, there was NO primary chain tension adjustment. He says that it was not until 1960 with the introduction of the T100 that chain adjustment was introduced. If correct and knowing my friend i am sure it is. as he has read the specs for T5a. It is my intention to get a later out cover with the adjustment facility, buy the plate adjustment bits, and create the pivot by making a plate with the pivot, fixed to the two lower alternator studs.
