Funny enough I caught a bit of a head cold over the holiday and you’d think I had bubonic plague the way some people acted. How do I know this? Because I’ve only had head colds like 40 or 50 times before and I know what a head cold is. My favorite quote was “Well even if you’ve had Covid before and got all the jabs you can still get it.” Fuckin’ clowns.

We've seen this argument expressed before, but l can't go along with it. You can't attach blame to illness, as tempting as it may seem. As bikers who maybe speed, drink and/or smoke, it's a dodgy philosophical standpoint. :)

I don't think it is. Blame for illness, no but blame for refusing a measure that could have prevented them becoming ill enough to require treatment from an already stretched NHS, yes. Many of those being admitted with serious complications are non-vaxed, yet they are NOT refusing treatment and are also then asking for the vaccine. You could throw up numerous analogies, try this one. If you don't renew your house insurance and your house burns down you can't expect someone else to bail you out.

The notion that the evolutionary trend is for the virus to become less deadly over time is a false premise. Random mutations that evade immune systems are ‘fitter’ in the Darwinian sense. There’s no learning as such. It doesn’t matter if the virus is more or less deadly, only that the host is contagious for long enough to spread it.

The fact that Omicron so far appears to be less severe is purely coincidental IMO. Virus's don't bare grudges, they just want to survive and replicate.

I agree everyone has a choice to be vaccinated or not. However when they become sick with COVID and end up in hospital. It would seem that that they expect to be cared for by hard working Hospital staff that have been Vaccinated Not only to protect themselves but to Stop the virus spreading.
Now the hospitalised Un Vaccinated person will not be complaining at the large Cocktail of Drugs that is being put into them to save their life's. It does seem that some people just like to complain. Then change when it suits them.

Best to get Vaccinated. Your argument of not enough Data has now Expired

I had it a year ago. Lied on couch for a couple weeks watching YouTube videos and sipped whiskey. My company even gave me 2 weeks “Covid pay.” Never even ran a temperature. Never took a single med, other than whiskey. Basically laughed it off.

The Mrs didn’t even catch it until 3 or 4 months later and she shrugged it off after 5 days with a permanently weakened immune system. Needless to say she’s not getting any jabs either.

Individual cases have no statistical significance. As I’m sure you know.

Yet numerous posts in here affirm that no counter-measure guarantees protection, to include those by pro-vaxxers.

No one ever claimed it guaranteed protection. It just gives people a better chance of fighting it off.

Well, yes, but I don’t think our reticent friend is an idiot. I just think he’s wrong in this case.

And it is better to keep your yap shut and let everyone wonder if you’re an idiot than to go running it and remove all doubt. Take you for instance.

I can quote other people shit too for the mere sake of argument.

Go shower in that shit for all I care, guys. Friggin’ shoot it straight into your carotid through a sewer pipe. Whatever makes you feel safe. I’m never taking that filth and I’ll bet money that I’ll never get any variant from here on out. FTR- I’m typing this on the beach in 80*F weather and there’s not a mask in sight, nor was there at the sub shop I just got lunch at.

    Fear is a choice.

A period of reticence would indeed be welcome.

    ^ ^ Wouldn’t know. I don’t really watch TV.

You guys should probably post some kind of no-competition type clause if you’re looking for an echo chamber in here.

I wouldn’t want to see that and neither would many others, I suspect. Disagreement should never be discouraged. All are entitled to their view. However, the heat of debate can result in some opinions turning to ash.

I’m not sure our 80 year-old friend would agree.
