T300 Generator/alternator Regrec Question

Hi folks.

I'm rewiring my Daytona 900 project bike using a Motogadget Blue control unit.

The output from the alternator consists of a black and a red wire which junctions to a red and a white wire.

From the wiring schematic I can see that the white wire provides charging current to the battery and also power to various other items. The red wire provides power via the keyswitch.

Can anyone explain the characteristics of the two, are they the same, can they be commoned out, or can one simply be blanked out and not used.?
