High twin exhaust or low single?

i think it's really up to what you prefer the look off,i like the twin exhausts, but there is a quite a saving on the weight with the low exhaust, but to us mere mortals I'm not convinced you would notice any difference in handling (the best modification to improve the handling of a bike would be to cut down on the pies!) and if you are going to put panniers on there will be more choice with the low boy,i think it also puts out slightly more bhp but again whether it is noticeable I'm not sure..perhaps someone who has ridden with both exhausts will be able to tell you

 

Depends on your priorities....
They are quite different. The twin high is just slip-ons, took me less than an hour to fit, leaves the stock headers and cat in place (just the y pipe under the seat is changed). Nice deep note and still not too loud even with the baffles removed, nice burble on the over-run. Still get a substantial weight saving over the stock cans. They claim 3ps power gain with baffles removed, but you're not going to notice it, truth be told most of the time on the road very few of us use a fraction of the power available as standard.
The low-boy is more performance orientated (although I don't know what the power gain is quoted to be), your getting a full system including headers and removal of the cat. The baffle is not intended to be removed but I'm guessing it will still be a bit louder than the twin (anybody confirm this?). Obviously a bigger weight saving to be had (and lower c of g), so that might start to be noticeable in handling.
For me twin exhaust is an essential part of the bikes style giving it that chunky meaty look, and also echos the bikes heritage (I had the early 900's which all came with twin exhaust).
But you can go the other way with the low-boy, add a tail tidy and the rear becomes very short, slender and minimalist.

By the by, why do they call them tail tidies? IMO they rarely are.....usually end up with exposed wiring and bits of bent metal that aren't too tidy.......just saying.

 

I like the look of the twin pipes myself but all my friends prefer the low boy . I've been thinking about a set of slip on cans, I know with the arrows the manufacturers warranty is still upheld but really fancy the shorter carbon fiber SC project cans personally I think they suit the back end of the speed.
Not a big fan of most tail tidies with the high cans as the indicators are placed above them , looks wrong to me .

On a slight tangent. Where are the db killers located if fitted? They're not shown on the parts drawings? 2012 speed r with high arrows.

 

Right on the end of the can, it your oval-ish tube does narrow down an inch from the end they are already removed.

Edit to say "does not narrow down"

it has the arrow low tune. for me it runs better with baffle in.

 

low boy exhaust really disturb the flow of the bike though! there is a single sided swing arm and rather then exposing the beautiful back wheel , you just put something on that area and you might as well have a conventional swing arm. Shame the twin exhausts are just slip ons!

Hi Robin, from your photo the db killers are already removed, if you look carefully at the small gap between metal and carbon fibre at the end you will see a nut welded to the metal inner. When the db killers are in place a screw fitted into that holds them in place. Photo of db killers below.

 

I've been looking for the new 2016 model aftermarket for the twin high, not much available except the arrows atm, gonna be a while yet I think.

 

Quick question col_c how the Fuck do you get them out I've been trying to for a good hour and they've not budged and before you ask yes I've taken out the bolt . They're a lot harder to remove than I expected.

Robin do you know what the pipe is that's fitted now? Lowboy slip-on.... is it a homemade job?

I'm looking to fit high Arrow cans on it.
