Scrambler Xc 1200 - How To Run Smooth At Low Rpm?

Your bike is a large twin and they all run lumpy at low revs. You will always have to feather the clutch to smooth the old girl out at low revs/speeds . What you are experiencing is why so many people love big twin engines, as once you get them moving they are brilliant.

 

It won't hurt to try a 'reset adaption' - this clears the learned values stored by the ECU so that it can re-adapt to your engine. Or something like that.

1. From cold, start without touching the throttle or any controls.
2. Let it warm up and then continue to run for a minimum of 12 minutes after the fan comes on.

I do this after changing exhausts, fiddling with baffles - or to cure any lumpiness at idle or low revs. It does seem to work.

I have an XE , had same problem with risk of stalling at the lights .
Installed a Booster Plug from TEC Bike Parts.
All good now

Mine's always run very smoothly at low revs, but I also fitted a Booster Plug to address the tendency to stall when pulling away. It seems to work very well...or maybe I just learned to give it more throttle

 

This is part of the big twin characteristics that I find quite appealing, the opposite to the silky smooth IL4 on the Kawasaki. Both completely different beasts but as enjoyable as each other when you're in the right mode/mood!

 

To get a smooth twin at low rpm, it needs to be a 2 stroke with a 180 crank.
