Well I'm still looking for a comfortable set up as my Tec units just don't do it. They just don't have enough travel to work right. I have a sore arse every time I ride the bike as I've had to screw the springs up a lot and then they still bang at the end of the stroke even when not two up. The benefits are that they appeal cosmetically only. And as for falling a part I posted on here a year ago with pics to what a collapsed shocker did look right was very worrying!!
Hi... I've found the nut, and a daft question follows. How do you check it, and adjust it, given that it is buried inside the spring?
You lift the rubber bump-stop, insert the open-ended spanner through the coil spring and tighten - if neccessary - the nut.
Had a good day yesterday, got off work early and managed to fit progressive front springs, tec rear shocks and Tor pipes. My only concern is the gas chamber on the back of the rear shock is mightily close to the exhaust but I have spoken to George at Tec and he reckons it's fine.
Just as the biglad said, at the Base of the shocks on the inside is a black rubber bump stop. Lift this up to reveal a 19 mm nut and if it needs it tighten it up with an open ended spanner.
Thanks for all the various replies! I will obviously have to give it another go, as I was struggling to fit a spanner between the coils when I tried. Should I be looking for "thin spanners"? I resorted to dots of nail varnish, appropriately applied, so that I can see any movement of the various nuts on the rear suspension.
If you have got a narrower spanner it would help but you should be able to do it with a standard one and as for the nail varnish it's a good idea, just make sure you have enough left to do your nails
I was worried about that too so fitted them the opposite way around do that the canister is further away from the end can! Congrats on getting it all done! Have you tried it all out yet?
Haven't tried it yet but I will do tomorrow as I'm taking it in for the remap for the new cans. I did start it up in the shed once I fitted them which induced a very large grin and the girlfriend telling me to turn it off. Must admit the suspension cannister is close but have had a look at a few pictures online and other people have them quite close to the exhaust as well.
Hello Matt what specifically does it make it worth the £200 for the front and back? the bike rides great in single person as it brand new, double up I have notice its a bit wallow on the back and a little vague on the front , but as I expected I guess still very keen on doing it though
Tried my new TEC suspension out over the weekend and it really does make a difference, where we live the roads are rough and that's putting it politely and the difference I felt was impressive. Had to mount the rear shock next to the exhaust backwards to prevent contact with the exhaust but apart from that all good especially with my bargain TOR pipes which sound great.
I agree with abc! It made the bike much comfortable and I felt more confident through corners. The progressive front springs made the bike feel much sharper and responsive. I agree that it is a nice bike to ride to start with but that being said I would say do it and it feels like a whole new bike!
Glad your happy with it! Sounds like we have a similar set up as I got bargain TORS off of eBay and had to mount the shocks backwards too!
