Just joined the forum. Senior whose first bike was a Suzuki GS750 back in the seventies, when I taught motorcycle safety. Gave up riding for many years until last year, when I fell in love with and bought my T120 Ace Cafe. I live in British Columbia, where we can ride all 12 months. Getting used to the power and torque of this beautiful machine as I ride the twists and turns outside Victoria. The bike turns heads where ever I go, especially with older folks who remember Bonnies of the sixties. Only problem I have had is a 'clunking' noise in the front fork area, almost like something is sticking in the spring shaft. Happens when the brakes are applied and released and the fork compresses. I've had the bike checked, but there is no play in the steering or front end, and the damping seems to be fine. Would appreciate any thoughts.
Greetings and welcome to the forum, jd. That is a beautiful bike. Sounds like you're thoroughly enjoying being back on the roads again. I can't help with your front fork issue but there are loads of knowledgeable and helpful folks on this forum. Hope you get it sorted.
Hello JD I had clunking in what I thought was the front fork area once, turned out to be loose brake callipers (bolts hadn't been tightened properly after a service).....I noticed it on braking too, worth a double check
JdWalmsley Welcome to the family. Great intro and cracking photo of the steed. Seems you will fit right in here in the asylum the inmates like pictures and darker bikes Joe
Update on the "clunking" noise, Triumph OK'ed warrantee work to determine the problem and correct. Dealer determined pretty quick that it was due to the steering header bolts not being torqued to spec, They were tight enough not to cause any movement or play, so apparently no operating danger. They tightened the bolts to spec and noise disappeared. Big smiles .Thanks for your input and kind words.
