I reckon if you had that attachment and short hex drill bits there qould be room to drill, a quick search and these came up straight away https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-Pcs-65...-/353459262836?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286

Would like to see you get it out without resorting to paying someone else to do it

Doing ploughin’ nothing. Yesterday was a gorgeous sunny day, but had family visitors most of the day. Planned a ride for today and what do I wake up to? Rain. Again. Dammit.

    Do Truimph make boats?

After watching the MotoGP decided to nip out for a wee run up the Glens, stopping off at the ski centre for a coffee, first time it's been open this year

Since it’s looking like rain all day decided to put on some new tank decals.

Well, I'd prefer to pay someone else to do it, but that would require finding someone willing to take on the job and who I felt I could trust.

Thanks, will consider that option if I get really stuck.

If I had the working space I would use a left hand drill bit (of suitably hard material) and attempt to drill out preserving existing thread, which seems the 'correct' method.

After a ligament repair surgery back in November '20 on my right wrist I finally got out on my Scrambler 1200XE a few weeks back for some trail riding. Unfortunately I confirmed my fears that my wrist just isn't going to be up to trail riding. I had to say farewell to my beloved XE but hello to a new '21 Rocket 3 GT. I think she'll be right at home along side the Indian Bobber and Speed Twin.

Me and the wife went for breakfast. The first sit-in meal for months. We both felt almost normal.

For the record the Indian and Speed Twin are my wife's bikes. Granted I ride them more often than she does but she'll be the first to lay claim to them.

Too bad about your wrist, RebelHawk, but that does seem like a good trade to me! Enjoy that new Rocket. :grinning:

This was this past Saturday and not what I did with my Triumph yesterday. Maybe we could edit the thread title to "recently"?

Anyway, I decided to get out on my Speed Triple RS for a little jaunt Saturday afternoon as I'd not been on it since our evening ride to dinner for Mr. Sandi's birthday a couple nearly two weeks ago. As I moved the bike I realized that the R & G side stand foot seemed loose and made a rattling noise. So I (thought) I got the right tool for the job and attempted to tighten up the screws. No dice. There was no "traction" and it seemed the heads just spun. So my ride choice became to head over to our local Triumph dealership, AZ--KKT, Arizona Kawasaki--KTM--Triumph, to see have it checked out. And I always enjoy going there to look around and say hi to the guys so this gave me all the more reason to ride there.

    IMG_4876.jpeg

I parked my Speed Triple outside the service area and went in to talk to the service manager then on the way over to the customer entrance saw this lovely little Honda Cub parked in the main parking lot.

    IMG_4856.jpeg

The service manager said that most likely the threads were stripped and it would be better to just replace the R & G foot if it wasn't still under warranty. I'd had it for nearly as long as I've had my Speed (two years in November) so that one-year warranty was expired. So I went ahead and ordered the same part with my favorite parts guy. Then the service manager said he'd take a look at it for me and, lo and behold, he said it was fine! So I cancelled my order right then and there and they tightened up the foot after inserting a sort of "shim" between the foot and my side stand foot so it wouldn't rattle anymore. So HURRAY for AZ--KKT and a big thanks and shoutout to Steve!

And boo, hiss on my measly mechanical skills. No big surprise to me there, though. I'm sure I must have been using the wrong tool for the job. At least I do know enough to know that it's "rightsy--tightsy, lefty--loosey". :joy:

    IMG_4862.jpeg

In the meantime I wandered about the dealership to see what might be new since my last visit. I'd heard a deep bark several times while talking with Steve and found that it was coming from this handsome fellow whose name is Braveheart. I didn't catch his owners name. Braveheart was adopted from PACC--Pima Animal Care Center and is somewhere around six years old. He was a very sweet and friendly pooch and I hope to meet him again someday.

    IMG_4865.jpeg

    IMG_4871.jpeg

I did catch that Braveheart's owner currently rides a 2006 Speed Triple and he's interested in the new 2021 Speed Triple. But he's really hoping the dealership will further discount the 2020 Speed RS they currently have on the floor for what's already a ganga deal down to $14,200 from $16,500. Wish I'd gotten that price discount when I bought my 2019.

The dealership had a few more bikes on the floor than they did at my last visit. But I was hoping they'd have one of the new Speed Triple's and also one of the new Speedmaster's so I could check them out in person. Only out of curiosity. ;)
