Thanks for posting @Sandi T great as always. I hadn’t thought about tourism there until you raised it. With the US being so large COVID-19 would curtail some travel but you still have travel. NZ and Australia have been haemorrhaging $$ with closed borders and no tourists. I took a shot of our gas prices for Auckland City with higher taxes and closest region Waikato, plus some from the South Island. Prices are per litre (1 us gallon is 3.78l) and our high to low octane ratings equate. With the pricing close and the measurements about 3.5 times less fuel in NZ, it gives you a good idea how expensive fuel is in NZ
In our neck of the woods, typically, £1.23 - £1.26/litre for standard UL, anything over £1.35 for SU and around £1.27 - £1.29 for standard derv. Fill up at a motorway service station and you can easily add 10p/litre to to those prices. Prices can vary quite a bit up and down the country.
Ouch on those gas prices, Dartplayer! Tourism, yes. Things are interesting here in the U.S. in that, even when it is made clear that we are not yet "out of the woods", in many states (including Arizona) all governmental restrictions have been lifted and what's left is what individual entities and businesses--and individuals--choose to do or not do. Just today I read that our governor lifted all mask mandates on schools. I'm not feeling the love on that, let me tell you. But our school district along with nearly all of them in Pima County are electing to keep those mask requirements in place. I mean, sheesh, there are only five weeks left in the school year....politics. Thank goodness for how suited motorcycling is to social distancing.
Lovely write up @Sandi T as usual. Are you sure you haven't died and gone to heaven? A ride on a Speedy in perfect weather, empty twisty roads, then back home to live music and beer. Bliss!
Thanks, Dawsy. You are right and believe you me, I know it. In fact, I said as much about being in heaven when I was chillin' in the backyard with the boys...and the beer.
Still waiting for the snow to start clearing up AGAIN but the cosmetic mods are on the way and I can't wait to see how it looks! Found a company I wanted to give a try for the fender eliminator and flush mount signals since I can't seem to source the ones everyone used to run on Daytona's back in the day, they're called Motodynamic so if anyone has any previous experience with them do please tell, I just don't like the way any of the other offerings look (and just not a big fan of Competition Werks as a whole so I didn't go with theirs either). But anyways all the regular items; fender eliminator, flush mount front signals and smaller sequential LED signals in the rear, and mirror block offs. I'll probably order the Armour Body track fairings soon too because track days are right around the corner and I cant even begin to imagine how much I would kick myself if I went down with all the carbon
After complaints from my favorite pillion rider, and a look at the "max speed" dashboard function, I've been put face to face with facts. I can't see the small numbers on the speedo, and regularly underestimate those. So time to put in place the cheapest speed limiter available.
Wow that is super clean. How old is your bike and how much time to you spend keeping it like that? Edit update: can you post a picture of the full bike
Took the Tiger on a charity ride put together by one of the local MCs. 95% of the bikes on the ride were various flavors of Harley, two Victories, a BMW, my friend on her CanAm Spyder, and me on the only Triumph. As expected I got a fair amount of ribbing from the Harley riders, but I found it quite amusing that at every single stop, a few people came over to compliment the Tiger. Was a load of fun, and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Tuesday, I rode it to get my second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Then I slept for about 24 hours straight...
Today, I had to take my Tiger 750 off of the ramp to turn it around so I could take the front wheel out to fit a new disk. Thought I’d take a snap of the new slimmed down arse end, with it’s new pipes on. It seemed rude to have it out and not start it, sounds lush. Took it up the lane, the brakes are non-existent, but I’m on with that. I can’t decide what to do indicator wise, I’ve taken off the rear ones, they were fixed to the grab rail, so I’ve either got to take off the front ones and go without or find some smaller, sleeker ones. So far it’s had:- new fork stanchions and seals; new tyres, new shocks, new exhausts, new mudguards (front and rear) and by the end of this evening new front disk and pads.
Nice day out delivering a bike Traffic not so good and upsetting car owners as i tried filtering in my van.
Not today, but yesterday I took my third ride this week, an all day affair to and around the Peek District, slow relaxed cruising in the glorious sunshine.
First ride out of the year. Weather spot on and the roads fairly clear. Thought I might regret having fitted the rear sets due to a recent knee injury but things weren't too bad if a little painful when putting foot down at a stop .
Cracking run on some more of my favourite roads, they have resurfaced the road down from Lochearnhead down to the Trossachs (from waypoint 4 to 5) and it's now like a billiard table . Between waypoint 12 to 13 is one of my favourite roads the B827 up to Comrie 10 miles of corner after corner, i love it, even more so doing it in this direction The one and only picture taken today up the Dukes Pass (between waypoint 6 to 7), the Rocket sounded great with all the popping on the over run, although the exhaust is pretty quiet it does sound great in 2nd and 3rd gear when your having fun through tight twisties
