Thruxton Ebc Hh Pads

I've just fitted Brembo SA pads to my 2018 Thruxton. Not quite run in yet, but also seems to be an improvement over stock. I also fitted EBC HH pads to my 865 Bonnie, they are definitely not bedded in yet so hoping they will show an improvement as well.

 

I agree I replaced the oem pads on my tiger with EBC pads. A great improvement

 

I agree totally EBC HH have been my go to pads for years now, the EBC discs are excellent too !

Fitted HH to my Thruxton S last year and also changed the rotors to Brembo floaters. Had no real complaints with the stock set up and was more interested in shedding unsprung/rotational mass than improving braking performance but was pleasantly surprised at the difference.

 

I've got about 150 miles on the EBC pads on my Bonnie so today I tried the heat cycling where you brake hard from 60 to 20mph a few times. On the 3rd try I locked the front wheel up and scared the shite out of myself. Haven't done that since my radial brembo'd Ducati(no ABS). Granted it wasn't a 2 finger touch on the lever, more of a full blooded 4 finger squeeze, but impressive all the same.
Wish I'd put EBCs in the 1200 Thruxton now, but maybe the Brembo SAs will still improve more.

 

While we are talking brakes, I would like to recommend Castrol React brake fluid as one of the best to use, unlike many brands it has a foil seal under the cap keeping it fresh on the shelf, I have tested quite a few new bottles of fluid to find it has already 1% moisture present ! I know this is well within spec' but Castrol is always zero and is quite often only 1% after 2 years !

Just as an update the Brembo SA pads seem to have worn in quite well, and I feel have more bite.
On Thruxton S Nissan brakes I read a test a while ago comparing the Thruxton with the BMW R9T Cafe Racer, which has Brembo calipers, etc.. The Thruxton had a very slightly shorter stopping distance from 30mph, but took 6 feet longer to stop at 60mph, so doesn't compare too badly really. Anyway, I squished the crown jewels against the tank for the first time the other day.
