Having recently moved to France Mrs FZR and myself sold our speeds as the cost of importing and registering was bonkers. Today we had a trip to Rennes where in the space of a few hundred meters there is a Triumph, Ducati and Yamaha dealers along with just about every other make you could mention. Not the most successful of trips as Triumph did not have a street in Ducati did not have a Monster in and You guessed it Yamaha did not have an MT09 in. All 3 very friendly and going to contact us when they get bikes in and all will have a demonstrator.

I agree about the older MT09 but the 2021 model in my opinion is a much better looking bike, no more stupid number plate holder for a start.

I hate to say it but yam.
But, i suppose it's down to what type of roads and what type of riding you prefer?
And, at the end of the day, looks.

I have recently owned a 765 rs and a tracer gt that is based on the MT09,
I lasted six months on the brand new tracer gt, having owned various triumphs over the years I simply missed the quality of the Triumph against the plasticky nature of the Yam, The moment I sold my Triumph I regretted it, went straight out and bought a Speed twin!
Owning a motorbike is about passion for me, the triumph isn’t the perfect bike but damn they look good and I love them.

I have been looking at the 890r as well but it really hacks me off that you need nearly 400 euro extra for a quick shifter but that said I am planning a test ride on one.

I am on my 2nd season with 2019 ST3 RS and loving it. I do noticed the new MT09 looks and performs better (at least that’s according to the reviewers) and at some points have better electronics than the Triple RS. So the new one is worth considering that’s IMO.
